On offer for £899 with black glass stand.

Anyone know what the difference is between this and the popular R7 series?

In particular how does the PQ quality fair??

There's not much info about this model around at all - plenty of stuff on Google if you look for 'samsung s7 series' but most of it appears to be for Australia or Malaysia where it seems to have been launched around August. The R7 series seems to have been launched in March and the N7 series in September. Apart from one or two other sites, the only places that list this model are Currys and Dixons (both part of DSGi).

The specs for it are not as good as the R7 or N7 series but it's also quite a bit cheaper! From reading about the N and R series, one of the main advantages of the N over the R appears to be that you can adjust the screen settings (contrast, colour balance etc) on a per input basis - i.e. have one setup for your DVD player and another for your VCR. Since the manuals for all 3 series say that you can do this on all of them, it's unclear whether the S allows it or not.

If they did a 37" N7 then the choice would be easy.

I have spent some time in my local Currys watching both the LE32N73BD and the LE37S73BD and the N is noticably better than the S. On the other hand, I preferred the S to the Toshiba 37WLT66 and the Sharp LC37GD8E

i went in to currys with the intention of getting the 32" samsung R series for £799. i got seduced by the 37" S for the same price so took that home instead.
BIG mistake! i found the picture quality, blurring etc was awful and made the tv unwatchable.

i took it back expecting to be told "tough s**t" - however someone else happened to complaining at the same time and they let me swap for something else.

i noticed the panasonic 37" plasma (TH37PX60) at the same price, £799, so took that home instead. its superb, and i would recommend it to anyone.
