My New 30GB ipod Video wont play Xilisoft converted files

I have just bought a new Ipod Video and decided to add some of my dvds to it. Its the newest 30gb model (with the guy from Pirates of the caribbean on the box)

After purchasing the Xilisoft DVD to ipod software and running the conversion, my final file wont play.
Its Finding Nemo converted to ipod video2 (640x480 mpeg 4) resulting in a 1.8GB file 2500kbps i think.... i loaded it to the ipod but the screen goes blank and after a few seconds of no play back to the menu!!.. smaller file formats seem to play however.

The software is built for the ipod so why wont the high quality format play.. am i doing something wrong?

yeah the files play back on itunes and nero7 fine. I tried again on the films in a smaller file quality but same resolution (640x480) and they still dont play. Smaller resolution files do however.

my ipod is up to date on version 1.2.1 and the Xilisoft ipod software is the latest version.

My ipod has a please wait symbol then it goes black for a few seconds and back to the video menu??

if they have a couple of ipod profiles for encoding try a different one instead of changing the bitrate?

I'll be able to help you more later when I'm home I'll be able to access the program then and see what happens

thanks,.. i have just encoded a film at 320x240 at full quality and that plays back fine, its just the full full quality file at 640x480 mpeg 4 that the ipod seems to struggle with even though the bit rate is 2500kbps which is in the ipods capability.

the Xilisoft software states that the files it converts too all play back on the latest 5generation 30GB and 80GB models

UPDATE:
I have converted a 16:9 mpeg2 television recording to iPod video2 (640x480 resolution with keep aspect) and this plays(stretched to the ipod screen)

The dvd recording is also 16:9 however doesnt play still on the high, normal, low setting (340x280 high, normal, lowworks)

i'm trying it now on pan and scan setting to see if that helps.. i think this is a resolution problem.

tried again on dvd.. it can playback at full ipod resolution on letterbox mode 4:3 however "keep full aspect" mode is a no go- the ipod doesn't seem to like the file... unusual why mpeg2 television recording plays on full aspect however.
