Please will some dvd users advise me

I need to make my decision by tomorrow whether to open and keep the dvd recorder or opt for another video recorder.

I just need some every day users to tell me:

1. Are dvd players/ recorders noisy. If they have a fan, will this whirr away in the background like a computer fan?

2. Because dvds go back to the beginning of the disc when you insert it, how easy/ hard is it to find the place where you were when you took it out, say if you were half way through watching a film? (this was easy on video as the tape stays in the same place!)

Please give me advice - im still in the video age!!

thanks

hey dude no dvd players make no noise, and most players can be stopped temporarily so they can be restarted where u left off so you can go for a piss,at that dvds are broke into chapters like a book so you can also find roughly where u where wen u remove the disk

Yeah the age of VHS has long gone and DVD and DVDr are in the early stage of being replaced with next gen media and DVR's

What will you use it for? If you want it for timeshifting then a PVR is a much better bet than either.

thanks guys. I do want it for timeshifting, but its a present so im happy to keep it and get pvr next time. Im usually about a decade behind the general population!
However, the reviews ive read say that this model has fan on the back which is "about as noisy as a playstation 2" - of course I dont have a playstation to compare it to!!!

The 4kus DVD Recorder I had from Asda was a noisy little ****er which used to drive me mad - my Pioneer DVD Players and Philips recorders are no nosier than CD Players (they have to spin a disc remember). Because they tend to be smaller than PC fans they tend to be whiny little sods.

Look at the time before you eject it - any good DVD Player (even my 4KUS) will allow you to jump to an exact time within a chapter.
