DVD player problem
savlad

I've been given a Sony DVD player with Sub Woofer and speakers. It was in full working order according to my uncle who gave it me. When you try to play a dvd it doesnt detect the dvd with a message saying "No Disc" I think the player may have got banged about a bit and this has dis aligned the laser. Is this easy to fix and how much roughly should I pay to fix it. Cheers

Nice gift, i would bin it.

You seemed to have answered your own question and in this day and age
i am sure you could pick one up for next to nothing, which should work.

As you mention speakers/sub, it sounds like this may be more of a Home cinema unit with built in DVD player rather than a stand alone player.

For this reason it may be salvagable as it is, for use as an amp/speaker surround unit connecting to your current DVD player and/or TV/SAT/Digibox. Hopefully there may be some useful connectivity you can make use of.

Try cleaning the unit/laser and it may be OK - I have managed to get units going like this in the past.

Good luck.
