860 Missing recordings
grn

Not sure if anyone else is experiencing this problem, but in the last two days, timer list entries to be recorded have not been. Tonight being Torchwood on BBC Three...not a murmur, no recording took place and hey presto it's decided to record a repeat, showing in a couple of days. WHY ?!!!?

So no overlaps, no loss of EPG, and still no recording. Is the 860 competing with the 710 in the reliability stakes? I could well be popping down the dealer again tomorrow as this makes VCRs look totally dependable by comparison...which they are of course

Having set up my mother's new 860 recorder at home just before Christmas and recorded a number of titles I moved it to my mother's house in London from the Birmingham area. After rescanning it worked fine, and all recorded titles were listed.

Four days later the title list is blank although the disk info shows 127G/160G. I am not entirely sure that this recorder is faulty but such as I can suggest from 100 miles away I have tried.

The fault is very like others posted for this recorder. A new timed recording reduced the available disk space as expected but nothing is added to the Title List.

I am suspicious of an OTA update that was running during this period.

Anyone else lost programmes from their Title List lately?

Not wanting to make any comments that cause offence but... have you checked that you are not looking at the Playlist titles rather than the Original titles. The machine remembers which view was last used so you don't automatically get back to the main title list.

Thanks bjj58, and thanks for not being rude. Yes my problem was, as you suggested, that the 860 was set to "Playlist" not "Original". The guys at RGB who sold it suggested that there was something of the sort but didn't know how to change the setting. The Sony Service centre girl of course was no help.

I run a Panasonic HDD recorder myself but bought this Sony 860 for my 91 year old mother on the basis that it does Series Link recording. When I read the manual I didn't notice the Playlist function. Considering all things my Mum is doing very well with the Sony 860.

Of the Panasonic and the Sony I think that the Sony is a bit easier to use albeit it is slow to start up and the remote control buttons are too small for the convenience of the elderly. I just hope that it keeps working.

grn may wish to delete these last three posts as they don't have much to do with his problems - unless of course its the old Playlist problem . . .
