Very interesting. I think I now know the source of the problem if not the solution.
The Xbox 360's HD game mode is 60Hz only, so when you play a game the TV is syncing to 720p@60Hz or 1080i@60Hz. This appears to be working fine on your HD-D45.
UK region 2 retail DVDs are encoded at 576i@50Hz, so the 360 will be upscaling them to 720p@50Hz or 1080i@50Hz. This is why games look fine but DVDs are off-centre: your HD-D45 isn't syncing to 50Hz HD resolutions correctly.
As for your Samsung DVD player, most upscaling DVD players don't upscale over component, only HDMI, so the TV is probably receiving 576i50 or 576p50 over component, which is why it looks okay.
Have you had the TV for a long time, and is it still under warranty? I suspect the fault is software related and could be fixed by a relatively simple firmware upgrade, but it's not something an end user can do. Even if the TV isn't under warranty Sagem may be sympathetic as the fault has probably been there since day one. In any case you are entitled to make a claim under the Sale of Goods Act for an inherent fault up to 6 years after the date of purchase, regardless of whether the warranty has expired.
You can check the current firmware version by typing: Menu, Sources and then pressing 3698.
As well as going through the normal channels you could try emailing Andrew Gorman, Sagem's UK representative, explaining the problem and your current firmware version, and see what response you get (if any):
andrew.gorman@sagem.com
Hope this helps.
