HDD Error
DSA
30-12-2006
I am very disappointed that after three months ownership of the RDR-HXD860 I am getting an "HDD Error" when coming out of standby. Also the startup is very sluggish with "Welcome" being displayed for a long time. I tried restarting the machine, and formatting the HDD (as suggested in the manual), but the promlem persists.

I have now sent it back to the retailer, at my own expense, to be repaired. I hardly call that good service. I remember the day when Sony Centres were the face of Sony on the high street, and would do anything for the prime brand that was Sony. Today, however they don't seem to care, and I am very concerned at buying any more from Sony in the future.

The 860 has always being quite slow, and I hope the repair will sort this out.

Has anyone else had this issue? I couldn't even open the DVD drive to see if there was a disc in there....so I have probably lost that.

The recorder is still under warranty so you shouldn't have had to fork out for a repair?

Sounds to me as though the OP has paid for the postage costs.

Yes, sorry, it was the postage costs I have had to pay, but that was not insignificant at about £13...!
