T-Mobile are currently having problems with their network it would appear. Anyone else?

Virgin Mobile confirmed they are aware of issues this evening.

I'm in south Wales and have been unable to receive calls or texts on my Virgin phone since Friday 29th December - four days now. Occasionally a text comes through several hours or sometimes a day or two after it was sent.

But I'm puzzled because I can still make calls and send texts - surely if there are network problems they would affect traffic to and from my phone?

It's affecting anyone using the Bristol switch (which can service different parts of the UK). Tmobile are working on this and as far as I know have just about sorted it.

I haven't been able to recieve calls for 5 days now, T-mobile customer service say there has been a problem in the Bristol area. Emails are still unanswered. When I ring the call centre it can take 20 minutes before the call is answered and on other occasions the line is hung up. (All I may add are calls made from BT line or other mobiles $$)

Serves me right for using T-mobile I suppose.

I have recieved a standard letter from T-Mobile saying that a transmitter is out in Bristol affecting quality of calls in Cardiff. I spoke to someone else in the call centre who said that one of the suburbs of Cardiff (Penarth) (Densely populated 30k people) isn't covered by T-mobile any more, and limited coverage in Cardiff Centre! No date or time given to when this can be fixed.

Any one else having these problems?

I work for T-Mobile and this issue is affecting people all around the country, not just the Bristol area.

It certainly should be sorted by now so if you're still getting problems then it will need to be investigated further.

Record 5 incidents when you've experienced a problem. Makes the events are far spaced apart as possible, an hour each if you can. Record the time when it happened, the postcode of your location when you had the problem and any error messages which came up.

Present this information to Customer Services and they will take it further for you.

Best time to call CS is before 10am.

Sounds about right for T-mobile 1 transmitter for the whole of the Bristol area !!!!!!!!

I don't think they quite mean that though.

It's not a transmitter in Bristol which has been causing the problems, it's the 'switch' which apparently is different (I admit I don't know what it is).

Thank you for your reply. I had another conversation with t-mobile customer services last night, who confirmed that it was a switch in Bristol associated with a BT exchange that was out affecting a large number of T-Mobile and BT residential customers in S.Wales. Fortuantley this morning service is back to normal both for voice and text calls. It was also made clear that a refund of line rental will be available.

It was a shame that other customer service reps were insistent that it was due to poor coverage rather than equipment failure... which can't be helped
