Hi guys

Am currently on PAYG with Vodafone and would like to go onto pay monthly but don't know which is a good tariff/network to go for.

I'm spending over £30 per month topping up so would like something that will be cheaper, it's my work mobile so would like to keep the same number and I use it text and talk around 50-50.

Anyone point me in the right direction? I haven't a clue with pay monthly and don't know if I need to stick with Voda because ideally I do need to keep the same number.

Many thanks, hope you all had a good Christmas and Happy New Year.

Yes - you need to call your current provider and ask them for a PAC code and give this code to your new network. Porting your number over will then take 5 days.

As for tariffs, you'll find T-Mobile's Flext plans hard to beat.

Also Virgin Mobile are doing 300 mins and 300 texts for £25 50/50 split http://www.virginmobile.com/vm/payMonthlyTariffs.do and also it is a 12 month contract so it is and not 18 month like the O2 one above and also gives a new phobne too goes down to £20 a month after 12 months.

If you're an NTL customer you can get that tariff for £10 a month

And for an extra £20 per month you get £180 per month to spend on call and texts with T-Mobile.

I know my sister has that. I have T-Mobile pay as you go with 3000 evening and weekend texts for a £10 top up a month myself. I've had a contract and wouldn't get another one.

It depends as I'm almost deaf so mainly text but my mate calls mostly so its different for each person.

They've got exclusive plans there online. All come with extras that you don't get in the Orange Shop on the High Street.

However, there are exclusive tariffs if you go to The Orange Shop...

Dolphin 25
150 X-Net mins and 450 texts

Dolphin 30
300 X-Net mins and 450 texts

Dolphin 35
500 X-Net mins and Unlimited texts

Racoon 25
175 X-Net mins, 100 Landline mins and 75 texts. Free voicemail.

Racoon 30
325 X-Net mins, 150 Landline mins and 75 texts. Free voicemail.

Racoon 35
500 X-Net mins, Unlimited Landline mins and 200 Texts. Free voicemail

All the above are 18 month contracts. And you get your Magic Numbers too! (Nominate an Orange phone number and call the number for free and unlimited. Plus you can add a new one every 6 months and there is no upper limit on how many you can have!!!)

There are 2 options open to you if you by direct or in-store..

1) In store you can have a £100 credit for your old phone
2) Online you get extra mins/texts on some of those plans, but no £100 credit

Have a look and see what you think.

Remember though - if you go to an Indie (CPW, P4U or JAG for example), you won't get Dolphin 30 at all, and you won't get the unlimited add ons (Just 500 texts on Dolphin 35, and 250 landline mins on Racoon 35). Dolphin 25 will just come with 200 texts also.

Hope that helps,

Simon
These days only those who work for Orange can recommend their tariffs.

Well this is on the site

Your Pay Monthly contract comes with a phone and lasts for 12 months initially. If you'd like to cancel your contract at any time, you can. You'll just need to give us a month's notice, and pay off the monthly payments to the end of your contract.

So to me that says commitment is 12 months and after that you are not in contract! You can get it as an NTL/Telewest customer forr £10 but sim only.

If you order your £10 per month rolling contract Virgin offer by phone, they'll throw in a Lobster 544 phone or a basic Nokia. If you've got NTL or Telewest, this has got to be a great offer? I signed up the other day, no problem. I'm going to eBay the phone! You can have 2 of these contracts, BTW.
