Poor viewing HD telly

Just bought this:

http://www.richersounds.com/showprod...id=LG-RZ26LC2R

Pretty good through my wharfedale freeview box, quite blurry when older programs are being shown though, IE uktv history.

Anyway, when i hook up my Playstation 2 the quality is quite poor, well in comparision to on my 10 year old CRT. I am still using the same gold plated scart cable as before so can anyone tell me why I have lost all sharpness, and why the colour seems to have drained a bit?

Also is SCART the same as AV? On my old tv, I had a SCART socket and an AV socket, although on my LCD it says on the website 2 scart sockets, but on the tv it says AV. And on my old tv the scart socket provided a MUCH better picture than the AV socket.

You know what has really p*ssed me off?

RGB scart sockets...different to scart sockets.

Thanks to all those websites who state 2 scart sockets but don't mention that one of these is RGB and the other isn't?

First thing to remember is that a totally different technology is being used to create the image on a LCD than a CRT and they will look very different especially as you have been watching CRT based displays for most of your life
Second is that the resolution of the LCD is far greater than the CRT and hence requires higher quality source material to make the most of it and when supplied "normal" source material (Freeview, analogue, PS2 480p/576i) the source has to be scaled up by the LCD to fill the screen, this means making an educated guess to fill in the blanks.

You may want to explore the component for the PS2 (if possible and use the highest resolution is provides). Scart is just a matter of knowing which one is RGB and which is just composite, why there are still composite only scarts is beyond me
