Shortland Street
bring back SHORTLAND STREET is what I say! I loved it particularly the early years. Why did the UK stop showing it?
LivingTV cable and satellite station would seem to me to be the ideal place to show it now, from the beginning. I emailed them from their website but got no reply not even an acknowledgement. Den |

I agree! I loved this soap and watched it right from the start. Gutted when they stopped showing it! Problem was it was never promoted, never included in the soap sections in magazines and never got networked by ITV
And i agree, you'd think with all the different chanels we've got now that one of them would have bought it and started showing it from the start. Im still hoping..... |

Well I have to say that Shortland street is way better than any of the trash ITV are showing on daytime these days! It is full of cheap talk shows.

I agree, Shortland Street was wicked especially in the early days, I used to watch it at 5:10 everyday after school, was so gutted when they took it off. I swear I had a crush on at least half the male cast
They did have some fantastic stories - I was so sad when Carmen died only months after having her baby and when Steve died in the car crash. The story with the psycho doctor (who wasn't really a doctor at all) was great, they had a really evil baddie too - Daryl I think |

I used to love a bit of Shortland Street. It was great! Really crazy, OTT plots with very engaging characters.
I LOVED Kirsty Knight - all the traumas she went through... I'd love to see it again. In response to a previous poster - yes, it was a filler - but that is NO REASON for someone not to write and request a showing...

Ah, Shortland Street. Happy memories! I used to love it. One of the best soaps on at the time, I thought. I'd like it to come back but I doubt it will.

They need a soap for their schedules in my opinion, and Shortland Street may just be the one. I even used to love the lyrics of the theme song, can anyone remember them? thanx for all the replies. Keep 'em coming so we can keep this thread alive for a while! Den |

We were talking about this a few weeks ago (not that I'm saying we can't talk about it again)
. Here is the link:http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/s...ortland+street Loads of us loved it. It was so great to sit down for half an hour with a cup of tea and a bikkie and lose yourself in it. |

Ok then guys, Living TV's address is:-
160 Great Portland Street, London W1W 5QA. I'd suggest writing to Programmes Section or to Viewers Correspondence. No, I don't know if those are proper department titles or not, just ideas. I really think that if they had just two dozen letters in January raving about Shortland Street and how they (the writer, and friends/family etc) would love to see Shortland Street from the beginning, they'd think about it. And maybe even send their own Yvette Fielding to exhume and/or interview Mr Mckenna in one of her spooky seances! Den |

I loved the accents in Shortie. They used to call it "Shortland Street Midical Cintre."
Nick was called "Nuck" and if someone went away you would really "muss" them.

I've never seen any STAR WARS films so I wouldn't know. I preferred Guy over Chris, Chris fancied himself too much in my opinion. Was Stuart their Scottish friend who had a houseboat, ..... vague memories of mine resurfacing? Den |

My friend's dad was the on set caterer, and when she was ill or bunking off school she used to go down to the studios. When they were short on extras she used to go and play bit parts in the background, which she did for years - until her school teacher spotted her on screen !

One of my favourite characters was Lionel. It's weird because his disappearance was never fully explained - almost as though they hoped he'd come back at some stage. Shame it never worked out with him and Kirsty.

I do remember that everyone at Shortland street seemed to have had a relationship/slept with everyone else, especially Guy and Chris, it was very incestous. I think Chris is the only oldie left in it these days, he's certainly the only one I recognised |

You are absolutely right. They would never show it again and even if it was on ITV2 3 or 4 from the start it would be strange as some parts of the country would have never seen it before and for some areas (Central especially) they would be seen as repeats. |

Maybe it's going on now as we sit and think, somewhere!
