recordng from telewest tv drive
Nanny Di

I have a Samsung LE32R74BD TV with 2 scart sockets (RGB and AV). I also have Telewest Broadband TV Drive with 2 scart sockets (TV and VCR) and a Sony DVD recorder model RDR-GX210 with 2 scart sockets (line 1 and line 3)

I can play a pre-recorded DVD OK but I am having trouble playing back a DVD I have attempted to record from my TV Drive. The display tells me it is recording but when I try to play back all I get is a picture of a snow storm. Please reply in easy to understand terms - I am a technophobe!

Di, hello and welcome to the forum. I hope this will be simple for you to understand.......here goes.

TV Drive TV scart ---> DVDR input (not sure if this is line 1 or 3, check manual)
DVDR output ---> TV AV1 (the RGB socket)
Test DVDR again by playing a DVD. This should work OK, try to set up the DVDR to output RGB. This should be in the video settings somewhere.
Test the TV Drive by trying it firstly, with DVDR in standby. The TV Drive should pass through to the TV. This should work fine.
Now turn on the DVDR but dont put a disk in. Set the DVDR input source to be 'line 1' (or whatever the input was). Again, the TV Drive should pass through and be visible on the TV AV1.
Now try to record something from TV Drive by leaving DVDR on above setting and pressing record. After a minute or so, playback the disk as a test.

Try all this and then come back to look at timer recording etc.

Rgds,
Scorp
