Panasonic DVD Player & Plasma TV - Upscaling Twice?!!
I currently have a Panasonic S52 upscaling DVD player connected only with HDMI to my Panasonic 42TX60 Plasma. When I watch certain DVD's - specifically ones with video content not film - there is too much emphasis, and many repeating shadows of vertical lines in the images. Both player and TV are set to 720p. When I change the player to 576p then the picture is much better (if a little softer).
Why am I getting this specifically with video material? Filmed material looks great. Was it a mistake buying a Panasonic upscaling player and could I be getting a double upscaling of certain material? |

Your TV probably does a better job of scaling than the DVD so you are doing right by setting to 576p. Whatever looks best is the correct setup, you are in a better position to judge than anyone else on this forum because you can see the picture. It's not a mistake buying an upscaling player if you like the rest of it, you don't have to use the upscaling. Last edited by bobcar : 02-01-2007 at 21:50. |
