will sony ericsson fix my k750i

i was given a sony ericsson k750i from my brother for £25 to sell but the joystick is a bit dodgy in that sometimes you have to press it a few times for it to respond.

i was going to put in on ebay but i was wondering that since its still in its guarantee could i phone sony ericsson and get them to fix the joystick button for me

my brother says it crashes sometimes as well so maybe i could say that too.

do you think they would repair it for me?

Probably but it will cost more than the phone is worth as its classed as an old phone now.

If it's under guarantee, then yes, they will.

try compressed air this sometimes frees them up a little.

When you procured the handset from your brother, did it come complete with the original receipt of purchase from an authorised SE dealer.

Quote:
“1. The warranty is valid only if the original receipt issued to the original purchaser by the dealer, specifying the date of purchase and serial number, is presented with the product to be repaired or replaced. Sony Ericsson reserves the right to refuse warranty service if this information has been removed or changed after the original purchase of the product from the dealer.”

Even if not, I'm sure SE will repair the item for you but expect a hefty bill!

a service center like crc will repair it without receipt. they can check the warrenty status by the bar code anyway

but shouldn't they do it for free since its under guarantee? (it has the original receipt and from the orange shop)

my other options are sell it on ebay as it is
or
buy a new housing for the phone, including the buttons so it can look like brand new, hope that the new button works, then sell it?

Try the compressed air, that normally helps on my k750, never had it die totally.

Otherwise take it back to the Orange shop, as that is where you bought it from, and whom your statutory rights are with. SE have no legal obligation to you.

Normally I would agree, but in this case they SE created a legal obligation by contractually agreeing an ongoing warranty (subject to terms and conditions) when the item was originally supplied.

Also as a04188 was not the original purchaser, then there was no contract between the Orange shop and a04188 and so no statutory rights exist in this respect. It might be possible for the brother (the original purchaser) to return the item to the Orange Shop but they will probably just send it away for repair under warranty anyway.

I would request SE to repair the faulty handset under the terms of their warranty

If it's a bit dodgy with the joystick or buttons or tendency to crash, then I think you are morally if not legally obliged to make that clear, otherwise the buyer is entitled to reject it for a full refund.

Best to send it back to SE for repair under warranty. It should be free assuming that the malfunction is not due to obvious abuse such as dropped into a cup of coffee.

I am also having problems with my K750i. Its just over a year old and the joystick is starting to stick. Im on a really good price plan so I wont be able to upgrade my phone. I noticed on the warranty page its says its for 2 years and 1 year for accessories. Im going to get in touch with my network and ill see how I get on
