Beware if you are thinking about purchasing a portable multi media device with any intention of using it to archive digital images.
Having purchased an Archos 604 complete with DVR station, I was amazed to discover that it does not support Canon cameras with the result that I am unable to use it to download and archive digital images when on holiday being the primary reason for the purchase.
Nothing on the Archos web site or in the numerous reviews I studied before deciding on this device gave a clue that a popular make of camera such as a Canon S45 Powershot would not be supported and is therefore useless for my purpose.
Amazon, the supplier, claim their returns policy does not apply once the packaging has been opened, but nothing on the outside of the box gives warning that your camera may not be supported. The only way to check is to unpack the Archos and make the necessary connections. At this point the screen diplays the notice "This device is not suported".
Too late I discover that I have a very expensive piece of kit which does not do what it says on the box.
Trading Standards here I come.
