Ratings Thread
Rather like the Christmas Ratings Thread and the Soaps ratings thread, we can use this to find out how ALL shows are doing from the latest reality show to a one off drama.
If someone could add the ratings for Tuseday & Wednesday night it would be appreciated. |

BBC2's revival of cult 90s drama This Life was a hit with the viewers as the 80-minute special gained 3.4 million (13.8%) at 9pm last night. This Life Ten Years On managed to hold a largely steady audience throughout but managed to gain a peak audience of 3.5 million (15.1%) in the final 15-minutes. The corporation's drama was only a whisker away from embarrassing ITV1 at the same time. The 60-minute swan song All the Best from Denis Norden, also at 9pm, amused 3.5 million (14.2%). The climax to the fourth series of CSI: Miami on Five wasn't too far behind with 3.2 million (12.9%) watching at 9pm. Channel 4's documentary Not Forgotten, presented by Ian Hislop, managed 1.4 million (5.7%). Taking the top spot by some margin was the return of BBC1's celebrity talent show Just the Two of Us which got off to a solid start at 9pm with 5.4 million (21.6%) over 60 minutes. The opening show last night was more popular than the first edition of the first series which gained 5.2 million (21.3%) in February last year. The entire series averaged 5.4 million (22.6%) over eight editions. Last night's later results show at 10.35pm appealed to 3.9 million (22.6%). ITV1 runs into some bad Fortune ITV1 also struggled in the earlier 8pm slot with the start of its new format Fortune: Million Pound Giveaway. The 60-minute show, which sees contestants try to persuade five millionaires to part with some of their money, could only interest 3.4 million (14.1%). It was significantly down on the channel's slot average for last year of 4.5 million (20.1%). The show was up against some tough competition from BBC1 as Holby City at 8pm interested 7.2 million (29.9%). BBC2 also found popular success in the unlikely shape of When We Were Scouts. The 60-minute history of the scouting movement at 8pm found a respectable 2.6 million (10.8%). It was enough to eclipse C4's Ten Years Younger which gained 2.1 million (8.5%). Five's World's Strongest Man picked up 1.5 million (6%). Countdown to a new presenter There was a fair amount of daytime activity yesterday as C4's game show Countdown gained a new host. The start of Des O'Connor run drew 1.9 million (19.7%) for 45-minutes from 3.30pm. BBC2's Flog It! at 3.45pm gained 1.7 million (15.9%) but ITV1's The Price is Right was off the pace on 800,000 (8.8%). The commercial network launched a new daytime show Daily Cooks at 3pm with 900,000 (11.1%) while at 5.30pm A Place in the Sun returned to C4 with 2.1 million (12.5%). BBC4 finds itself in The Thick of It The seasonal special edition of critically acclaimed satire The Thick of It gained a healthy 237,000 (1.89%) at 1.30pm in multichannel homes. But the corporation's 60-minute programme couldn't compete with the likes of some film favourites. ITV3's screening of Mary Poppins at 8pm appealed to 519,000 (2.73%) while ITV2's Shaun of the Dead at 11pm thrilled 376,000 (5.92%). Earlier in the evening Sky One's new two-parter Pandemic got off strongly with 365,000 (1.96%) for two hours from 9pm. The big hit of the day in multichannel homes though was Sky Sports 1's live coverage of the Premiership clash between Aston Villa and Chelsea which brought in 1.2 million (6.23%) from 7.30pm. All hours shares for Tuesday 2 January 2007: BBC1 – 22.2%, ITV1 – 16.4%, C4 – 9.8%, BBC2 – 9.6%, Five – 6.1%, multichannel – 35.9%. From Broadcast Now Wedensday Celebrity Big Brother returned with just over 7 million viewers last night, up on last year's launch night when George Galloway entered the house. The Channel 4 reality show began with 7.1 million viewers and attracted a 28% share between 8pm and 9.30pm, according to unofficial overnights. These were the second best Celebrity Big Brother opening night figures out of the five series. Celebrity Big Brother's ratings peaked at 8 million viewers and a 32% share during one quarter hour. The Channel 4 reality show was the most watched programme during its 90 minute running time. Last year the Celebrity Big Brother launch show attracted 6.5 million viewers and a 26% share. But it faced stiffer competition from Doc Martin on ITV1, which had 8.1 million viewers and a 31% share. Last night, Channel 4 also used Celebrity Big Brother as a launch platform for the third series of Desperate Housewives, showing an opening night double bill from 9.30pm. The first instalment of Desperate Housewives attracted 3.6 million viewers, with the second picking up 2.8 million from 10.30pm. A year ago, the second series of Desperate Housewives also launched off the back of Celebrity Big Brother, with 3.9 million viewers and a 21% share in the 10pm hour. Competition last night came from a repeat of the final two episodes of Torchwood on BBC2, which drew an average of 2 million viewers between 9pm and 10.30pm. ITV1's The Bill drew 5.6 million viewers in the 8pm hour, with Taggart following up from 9pm on 5.2 million. On BBC1, Seaside Rescue attracted 4.5 million viewers from 8pm and then Mission Africa had 3.7 million between 8.30pm and 9pm. Just the Two of Us suffered against Celebrity Big Brother and Taggart on its second night, slipping 1.5 million viewers and ending up with 3.9 million on BBC1 between 9pm and 10pm. World's Strongest Man was watched by 1.3 million viewers on Channel Five between 8pm and 9pm, then, on the same network, movie repeat Ransom drew 1.4 million. From MediaGuardian |

Very good ratings for Celebrity Big Brother. Once again, up on last year, no doubt Channel 4 will be thrilled.

Thank Ronant
So it looks like Fortune will be given the axe soon and it looks unlikely that Just The Two Of Us will make a third series. Impressive ratings for CBB and This Life +10 |

As for Just The Two of Us, the fact that it got a second series astounds me. |

Bush tucker proved a hit for BBC2 last night, with nearly 4 million people tuning in to watch the debut of Ray Mears' Wild Food. Taken from mediaguardian
The programme, at 8pm, showed Mears heading to Australia and comparing today's microwave meals with the bush tucker eaten by Aborigines for thousands of years including, yes, witchetty grubs. Ray Mears' Wild Food was watched by 3.7 million viewers and attracted a 15% share in the 8pm hour, according to unofficial overnight ratings. Over on Channel 4, Celebrity Big Brother shed nearly 2 million viewers on its second night, with day two seen by 5.2 million viewers in the 9pm hour, an audience share of 22%. Thursday's launch show attracted 7.1 million viewers and a 28% share. But this was still up on the second show of last year's Celebrity Big Brother, which drew 4.3 million viewers and a 17% share. Despite Celebrity Big Brother's audience drop, the reality programme still triumphed over its rivals at 9pm. Singing contest Just the Two of Us on BBC1 at entertained 4.4 million, a 24% share, while ITV1 at the same time, Parkinson's All Time Greatest Entertainers was seen by 3.4 million, a 15% audience share. After Celebrity Big Brother at 10pm, Channel 4 aired what is expected to be the last-ever episode of comedy Green Wing. The 110-minute Green Wing special attracted 1.7 million viewers, an 11% audience share. BBC1 broadcast a rare Thursday night Holby City, after the long-running medical drama took a breather during Christmas week. The move pitted Holby City against ITV1 police drama The Bill. An audience of 6.4 million watched Holby, a 26% share, while 4.5 million saw The Bill, a 19% share. At 9pm, Channel Five screened Build a New Life in the Country - Was It Worth It?, which brought in an audience of 1.7 million, a 7% share. In the preceeding hour on Five, the penultimate episode of the The World's Strongest Man was watched by 1.4 million people, a 6% share. |

ITV1's Parkinson's All Time Greatest Entertainers was the best show on TV last night. Pure class.

If Big Brothers ratings can stay that high this is going to be the highest rated Celeb series yet.
Just The Two of Us is doing awful and tonight it will fall to an all time low up against two hugely popular reality shows: Soapstar Superstar & Celeb Big Bro. I predict only 3m |

Yes, JTTOU won't do very well at all. It will be CBB and SS fighting it out tonight, and BBC One will be left to pick up the scraps.

Hugely popular IMO are shows like Strictly Come Dancing and The X Factor, although many don't regard them as reality television shows. |

Friday
In the three-way battle of the reality shows at 8.30pm Soapstar Superstar came out top with 5.0m (20.5%), with Just the Two of Us in second place (4.3m, 17.6%) and Celebrity Big Brother in third (4.0m, 16.1%). However BB topped the ratings for the second show at 10.30 with an average of 4.7m (24.8%). The soaps came out top, with excellent ratings for all three. Corrie had 11.2m (47.3%), EastEnders had 10.4m (42.4%) and Emmerdale averaged 8.9m (40.8%). Other high rating programmes included Ugly Betty at 9.30 on Channel 4 (4.5m 18.5%) and Grown Your Own Veg on BBC2 at 8.30 which had 3.8m (15.6%). |

So much for choice with 3 reality shows at the same time & occupying most of the night.
They only gathered a combined share of 54%, meaning that 46% went elsewhere (presumably BBC2 and multichannel)

Surprised that CBB came 3rd out of the reality shows on Friday.
![]() But I'm sure Channel 4 are delighted with Ugly Betty. 4.5 million is brilliant. It will be interesting to see if it manages to hang onto those for the 2nd episode next week, but with E4 showing it first on Wednesday that's probably unlikely. |
