Seeing as Got Talent is being mentioned, I found this on the Sony BMG website:

Quote:
“Syco TV and Fremantle Creates Transatlantic History
SyCo TV this week is celebrating the fact that on Tuesday 12 June it had the No.1 TV show in both the US and UK at the same time with its Got Talent show - an incredible achievement for a TV production company, and a first for any modern reality TV format.

Britain's Got Talent started its first nine day run on Saturday 9th June and has been No.1 in its slot ever since, trouncing Big Brother every night and beating the final of The Apprentice on Tuesday. Thursday night's first live show achieved a new high, a peak audience of 9 million and a 40% share.

Meanwhile, America's Got Talent returned last week on NBC on Tuesday for its second season, and was absolutely dominant in its time slot achieving an average of 11.4 million viewers making it the No.1 show of the week in the US.

The format continues to grow globally. It's been commissioned worldwide and is set to air in 40 countries by the end of the year.

Simon Cowell said "It's a fantastic achievement for SyCo TV and the Got Talent format to have number one shows on both sides of the Atlantic. I'm delighted the public love the shows, we wanted to make a show for the YouTube generation and a TV show which appealed to everyone and Got Talent seems to have a struck a chord around the world."

Lorraine Heggessey, CEO of talkBack Thames in the UK, said "It's so exciting to have a big hit on our hands. The creative partnership between talkbackThames entertainment division and Simon Cowell's team has proven to be a winning combination yet again producing an unmissable television event that all started from our pilot two years ago."

Ged Doherty, Chairman of Sony BMG Music Entertainment UK said "Simon has done it again. He has created something very rare - a TV show that is both a genuine must-see event and a true family show. He has once more proved that he has an uncanny understanding of the TV viewer in both the UK and the US. It's great to see that Britain has got talent."”

Glad to see the Bill doing so well and an excellent night for ITV overall (well not excellent but trashed BBC 1 ).

Just hope that when Holby Blue is over (if not already!)and Holby City goes back to its Tuesday nights that Thursday's nights Bill episode will increase further as it is always lower than Wednesdays the last few weeks.

Channel 4's Big Brother came second, with 3.7 million viewers and a 17% share, the same figures as last week's Thursday night show.

Channel Five's House pulled in 2 million and a 10% share, up 200,000 viewers and two share points on last week.

BBC2's Money Programme special fronted by Fiona Bruce, How Green is Your High Street?, pulled in 1.5 million viewers and a 7% share.

At 10pm, 5.4 million viewers, a 28% share, tuned in to the 10 O'Clock News on BBC1 to hear news of Gordon Brown's new cabinet.

True Dare Kiss brings 4.4m to BBC1
Jon Rogers
12:00pm
New BBC1 comedy drama True Dare Kiss took pole position in the ratings race at 9pm last night with 4.4m viewers (20.5%).

The hour-long opening episode kicked off at 9pm with 4.7m (22%) but then dropped to 4.4m (20.5%) by 9.15pm. Its audience stayed largely stable after that, ending on 4.4m (19.9%) in the final 15-minutes.

Despite comfortably claiming the top spot the show's audience was some way off the channel's slot average for the year of 5.3m (23.6%).

ITV1's re-run of Sharpe's Challenge at the same time was never in contention with just 2.7m (12.8%) tuning in over 90-minutes.

With ITV1 failing to make much of an impact on viewing figures Big Brother was clear to stake its claim for second place. The 60-minute reality show picked up 3.7m (17.2%).

A little behind ITV1 was Five's House on a respectable 2.2m (9.9%), also over an hour. BBC2's How Green is Your High Street? was the least watched terrestrial programme at 9pm with 1.5m (6.9%).

Police and thieves

The commercial network's cop show The Bill took a body bow at 8pm with the conclusion of its A Model Murder story only picking up 4.3m (20.9%). The storyline kicked off the previous day (27 June) with 6m (28.6%), the show's highest audience in the past 12 months.

Last night's outing was up against the might of BBC1's hospital drama Holby City which managed 5m (23.9%) in the same slot.

The weather once again affected play at Wimbledon, even though British hopeful Tim Henman still managed to get knocked out. BBC2's highlights programme, Today at Wimbledon, gained a lowly 1.1m (5.4%). Five's Build a New Life in the Country took 1.4m (6.7%).

Taking a clear lead over its nearest rivals at 8pm though was C4. How Clean is Your House? at 8pm took 2.6m (13%) which was followed at 8.30pm by Embarrassing Illnesses on 2.8m (13.2%).

All hours shares for Thursday 28 June 2007: BBC1 – 25%, ITV1 – 17.2%, C4 – 10.3%, BBC2 – 6.5%, Five – 5.5%, multichannel – 35.4%.

I know I'd like to know as I think all of the recent events will mean the news programmes will rate quite highly; because of the floods and the potential car bombs in London.

They made it look like the interview would have been the entire half hour but from what I saw it was a small moment during a half hour plugfest for the concert. As soon as I saw Fearne Cotton was doing the interview I decided to pass.

More than a small moment, it was about 15-20 minutes long. But agreed I thought the whole programme would be the interview. And although I have no opinion on Fearne Cotton's role, it definetely needed a young interviewer rather than an older established BBC journalist.
