a good career choice you think or are you pulling my leg ?

EE would have got higher had it not been up against the rugby, it's been consistently getting over a 40% share for months now excluding when up against the rugby and EM.

BBC1 should be putting Not Going Out straight after After You've Gone in my opinion.

Eastenders held it's own last night against the rugby and all three BBC1 comedies did well with After Youve Gone only dropping 100,000 French and Saunders making higher figures and Not Going Out holding well. The One Show did well too 3.4 is a very good figure”

Are you looking at the sanme figures as I am

8:00- EastEnders: 7.3m..(37%)..
8:30- After You've Gone: 5.0m..(24%)..
9:00- A Bucket O' French and Saunders: 4.1m..(20%)..
9:30- Not Going Out: 3.2m..(16%)..

The comedy slot starting by losing 2.3m viewers from EE and then losing 2m more viewers during the comedies, with each one getting about 1m less than the preceeding one, is hardly 'holding well'

Also as you can see, it's not like the Rugby had amazing ratings anyway. The normal ITV1 schedule would get just a bit less than the Rugby did from 8.30pm anyway

TBH honest it was a medioka night all round, other than Comic relief and Children in Need I think thats more or less the best it gets for BBC 1 on a Friday nights. But it did well to get five programmes topping 20% in prime time.

Neighbours get's 4.5mil tops and thats a combined viewing, EE normally gets 500k-1mil on it's repeat viewings and thats on a multichannel.

Neighbours is no where near 6mil, hasent been for about 5 years.

It often gets between 5.5 and 6 million combined in the winter and about a million less than that in the summer. In fact it sometimes gets quite close to 7 million once or twice a year. I follow the ratings for Neighbours quite closely. :P

The ratings for Saturday night seem quite low. Casualty has really dipped recently, at one stage it was getting 7-8 million viewers a week - perhaps people don't like the revamp? Who Wants To Be A Millionaire Celebrity did surprisingly well though.

Earlier slot. Still daylight. WEather was reasonable. Still the number 1 show and getting 42% share. Probably picks up the lost viewers on the ITV2 repeats

Still getting around the same share as it had the past weeks. So nothing worrying there. Just lower viewers overall.

Since when has 7m, number 1 show of the night been bad?

Remember by the time SCD starts, it'll be darker nights, winter will be drawing in, therefore the number of people watching will be higher

The BBC1 shedule was dire though, why are they reling on Dibley repeats in September?

Michael Palin's BBC1 series about eastern Europe debuted with 7.5 million viewers last night, more than double the audience for ITV1's Hell's Kitchen.
New Europe, the affable former Python's latest travelogue - following on from popular series such as Pole to Pole, Sahara and Himalaya - had a 31% share of the audience between 9pm and 10pm, according to unofficial overnights.

Palin visited Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia and Albania on the first leg of his seven-part tour around the former eastern bloc.

Meanwhile, just 3.7 million viewers, a 15% share, watched Hell's Kitchen, which concludes tonight.

That was at least an improvement on the 3.2 million and 14% share the cookery reality show achieved in the same slot the previous Sunday.

ITV1 will be hoping it can take charge of Sunday nights again next week when it has scheduled a Miss Marple drama between 9pm and 11pm.

Channel 4 also contributed to the pressure on ITV1, drawing a big audience for a repeat of the third part of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Return of the King, between 6.30pm and 10.05pm.

The blockbuster attracted an average of 3.1 million viewers and a 14% share over its full run, with a peak of 3.9 million and 16% in the quarter hour from 8.45pm. Another 183,000 watched the whole film on the new Channel 4 "+1" digital service.

In the hour The Return of the King was up against Palin and Hell's Kitchen, it averaged 3.4 million, or 14%, almost equalling the ITV1 show.

The Michael Palin effect gave the 15-minute BBC News at 10pm a huge audience of 7.4 million, a 37% share.

Over on ITV1, Holly & Fearne Go Dating averaged 1.7 million viewers and a 9% share between 10pm and 10.30pm.

This was beaten by BBC2's Match of the Day 2, which drew 1.9 million viewers and an 11% share in its 45 minutes from 10pm.

ITV1 had fared better earlier in the evening, with Coronation Street posting the night's best ratings, with 8.1 million viewers and a 37% share between 7pm and 8pm.

At 8pm, hospital drama The Royal attracted 6 million and a 15% share, keeping ahead of BBC1's Antiques Roadshow, which pulled in 5.1 million and 21%.

On BBC2 at the same time, Crisis on Jimmy's Farm drew an audience of 2.1 million and a 9% share.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Fantastic figures for Michael Palin. The ten O'clock news continues to perform well also.
Low figures for Parky was expecting at least 3mil.

A 7 million figure is very good, but considering that this is more than a million down on last week, and SCD comes around, it is quite vulnerable with this kind of figure, easily hitting 6 million if it is up against to strong competition.
