Is that why C4 are showing Without A Trace now?

The second part of the CSI crossover IS on, is it?

Radio Times for next week reviews it and has a dig at Channel 5 for declining to show the second part or to say when it would ever be screened.

Have they relented since RT went to press?

It really is very good of them and is bound to boost their Five US audience if so - even if only half the usual CSI audience switch channels.

It's in the listings for Five US in the Radio Times.

But isn't the second part officially a Without a Trace episode? So therefore Five didn't have the rights to show it. But they've reached a deal with Channel 4 and will show the next episode but on Five US. Presumably Channel 4 didn't want them showing it on the main channel.

But why just on Five US? Wouldn't it be better if they also showed it when Without A Trace is up to date, or show the CSI episode on Channel 4 (if it is allowed).

I imagine Channel 4 wouldn't let them show it on Five and they probably have exclusive terrestrial rights, but the distributor could still sell additional multichannel rights to Five.

To be honest, I think Without a Trace should move to Five anyway. Channel 4 have treated it awfully, and it would be better suited to Five.

The BBC got three times that, though I suppose people left One on after the footie.

Athough I never understand that reasoning - do people not know how remotes work?

What did Channel 5 get?

Indeed it is, but how many viewers will spot that? Radio Times has an article promoting the first part on Five devoted to the fact that we do not get to see the second part of the episode because Channel 4 declined to screen it or say when they might.

This is likely to make people assume that it simply is not on.

RT are seriously misleading their viewers by saying all of that without bothering to even mention that it actually IS on - on Five US immediately afterwards.

If you watch live (or read DS) you may know this. but if you set to record in advance chances are lots are going to miss this conclusion.

Curious as TV and Satellite week have an article that makes the situation perfectly clear and they presumably have a similar copy deadline to Radio Times (if that is their excuse).

The piece in RT does the magazine's readers no favours and I hope they apologise for dropping the ball. I am sure she will have an explanation (maybe this was a very late decision). Or maybe the editor, not the blurb writer, really should have cross checked against their own schedules. But it is still an unfortunate mistake.

I'm sure their thinking is 'news is news'.

Neighbours at 3,000,000 at 5.35 is the highest I have seen in a while (correct me if i'm wrong). Just in time for it's shift to Five!

Looks like England football fans were making an extra special effort to catch their team because they won't see them in Euro 2008!

Good figures for the footie was expecting bout 7mil.

I reckon it will lose at least half a million after the switch, and probably a fair few more.

I blame the TV channel snobs out there that refuse to watch a programme if it's not on BBC1 or ITV1. Typically these individuals will only ever use 5 buttons on their remote; power, ch1, ch3, volume up, volume down. Oh and maybe Ceefax, because that's so 21st century. They will quite happily give up watching a show they've watched religously for the past 20 odd years if it's no longer going to air on their beloved BBC.

Neighbours with commercials? Like in Australia? UNTHINKABLE!

Most people though will just settle down in front of their TVs 5 minutes earlier, tap "5" into the remote instead of the usual "1" and continue to enjoy the show on a channel which are already treating it a million times better. (i.e. extensive promotion, weekly omnibus + daily 7pm repeat on Five Life)

The extra showings have to be taken into account too of course; 2 on the BBC vs. about 6 on Five/Five Life I think.

It isnt anywhere near what it used to be. People are far more discerning now than ever. As far as News at Ten is concerned the people seem to have made their decision. The ratings are as low as the host of shows that used to occupy the slot.

I presume these are all-day shares. BBC ONE had an eight-point lead over ITV1, due in part to the football.

I notice that Channel 4's sales website add together the figures for their timeshift +1 channels to the main channel, but don't apply the same flattery to ITV's and five's +1 channels.

Anyone out there still watching The Royal Today? Tuesday's episode was really good. I think it has improved on a daily basis - I do hope it goes into another series, I'm really into it now!
