I'm sure recently its been something like 21%-22% for BBC ONE with ITV1 getting 20%-21%. I think there was quite a bit of attention paid when ITV1 had better all-day shares than BBC ONE and got up to a high of 21% with BBC ONE on 19%-20%. If anything BBC ONE is pulling ahead of ITV1 now by 8% on Wednesday and 5% on Thursday; ITV1 need to at least narrow the gap to around 1-2%.

ITV has now now not won a single 9pm slot this week, and with the way NEw Tricks is perofmring probably won't win tonight... A very good showing from the beeb!
Great ratings for the football and Ashes. Can see why ITV paid over the odds for the football, not that it would have got those figures on ITV1. What a shame that money has won the day and we'll have to endure ITV's shoddy and commercial-heavy coverage from August. Well deserved figures for Ashes, it was far better than I imagined it would be. Let's hope it holds the audience. Nearly 2m ahead of T&R, quite unexpected. |

ITV1
Football did well didn't it? Was the BBCs final match? Would think England v Scotland would get a sizeable audience fitting for the BBC's last live England game, 10m perhaps, in the absence of a domestic appearance in Euro2008? (the tournament ITV has already meekly run away from screening the final of) |

only kidding ![]() Neighbours gets basically the same audience each day. About 2.5m for the lunchtime show, with doctors slightly ahead with 2.6m. While the evening gets about 3m |

This BBC versus ITV nonsense is of the past. It made sense when it really WAS just ITV versus BBC, but it has'nt been that way for some time. Or have people not noticed?
Multi-channels have split the "BBC-alternative" audience. Night after night the BBC alternative is the winner. |

Why should it be BBC vs "the rest"? Why not "Sky" vs "the rest"?

Yet in recent years Channel 4 has been able to beat both channels in peak time, and sometimes all-hours. So I don't think it is by a long way. ITV getting beaten or nearly beaten by Five on some nights.
How many times has C5 beaten ITV1 in primetime shares? Just because American import CSI has occasionally beaten ITV1 on Tuesdays at 9pm, it doesn't follow that C5's overall primetime share that night would be anywhere near that of ITV1's. Trust me, BBC One and ITV1 are big players. C5 ain't.

But the fact that it has been able to beat it in some slots show that ITV1 is no longer supreme and is very vulnerable. Just because it is one of the Big 2, it doesn't mean that it gives good performances all the time like it used to. |

During 2002, 2004 and 2005 C4 has been able to beat BBC One in peaktime by more than 4 share points, and ITV1 as well. The days it has been able to beat both BBC One and ITV1 were on Friday 26th July 2002, Friday 12th August 2005 and Monday 12th September 2005. On other nights C4, BBC One and ITV1 all had over 16% share of all viewing.

How many "other nights"? Do those "other nights" occur regularly? Is that figure covering a complete evening (including peak)?

So that's three nights out of a grand total of .... well over 1,000. Impressive stuff indeed.

So ITV1 came joint 4th out of 5 channels from 9.30-10pm last night.
And lost out to BBC2's QI repeat at 10pm. I'll stop laughing in a minute... ![]() Wonder how long ITV's shareholders will put up with this? |
