Yeah, I think whoever schedules on ITV should have thought that The Palace was not good enough for a competitive Monday night slot on ITV1 and should have moved it onto ITV2.
Thank God You're Here is a family show and why it is aimed at young males I don't know. It's just not. I would air it at 8:30pm on a Friday night or 7pm on a Saturday night. My opinion.
Honest probably deserved the Monday night slot and it would have picked up a solid audience.
But The Fixer is doing well and received good critics.
My Uncle has already seen He Kills Coppers and highly recommends it. I am generally very excited by it.
So I wouldn't give up hope on ITV1 just yet, there is a lot coming up in comparison to other channels:-
Benidorm
Affinity (a one off drama)
Taggart (10 part series for autumn)
Lost in Austen
The Changeling (starring Ray Winstone)
The Children (starring Kevin Whately)
I personally enjoy drama premieres on ITV1 and it gets good audiences because viewers are familiar with its brand and success.
To get contemporary drama doing well on ITV1, we need to see shows like Talk to Me being re-commissioned and there needs to be a specific night to aim at the younger demographic.
I think it should be Thursday because there is a lot of competition on that night and a good show would not get its potential audience. Therefore, it would be best to have a variation of Moving Wallpaper, Echo Beach, Benidorm, News Knight, Get a Grip (with new presenters), Tough Gig, 24 Hours With..., The Abbey, Mumbai Calling and others in this slot because they're all similar programmes in a recognised time slot and a recognised day.
