Never understood why half a million people would start watching a 45 minute show 30 minutes in. the total audience was low last night outside of the 7-8pm hour, so perhaps it was people switching on. If thats the case BBC publicity have not been very good at launching DW Series 3.
ITV had a night off, a bit like BBC1 did the previous week.
Harry Hill had low figures but a relatively good share. I wonder what will happen next week?

Well, it is British Summer Time now, and the peak audience seemed to coincide with the sun going down across the country. Maybe that was pure coincidence, but I would expect that will be a common trend throughout Doctor Who's summer run. Wonder how much more it would get if shown during winter?

The lower than recently ratings for the pre-7pm shows on BBC1 and ITV1 kind of proves the point.

I would expect most stuff to be down by a million next weekend with it being Easter and people being away.

Have to say I have never understood showing Dr Who when the nights get lighter. Its noticeable how the ratings drop, sometimes quite markedly, when there is warm sunny weather. And,surely its a show for watching by the fireside in winter.

Well the first series went out in the spring, and as it takes 9 months to film each series it's pretty difficult to change. If they wanted it to start in January they'd have to be filming continuosly for 18 months.

Does anyone know what the ratings for BBC1 & ITV were before 1pm.

Got a spread bet going

Doctor Who probably would have gotten higher ratings with a better lead-in.

The BBC should delay Doctor Who for another year to build up speculation and anticipation - and then show it next January.

Maybe a million more or so but I think the share is more important these days and 40% is great great for a primetime show, the only other shows which get 40% in primetime on BBC1 is EastEnders and SCD.

Would it be better if SCD and DR Who were shown on the same night?

It would spread the BBC hits quite thinly. EastEnders regularly gets between 8-10 million viewers on a weekly average; in the Spring Doctor Who also gets around 8-10 and then in the winter Strictly Come Dancing brings in another 8-10 million viewers; this way their hit programming is evenly balanced throughout the year.

Doctor Who was over a million from 8.25 onwards.

Great to see Louis Theroux doing so well - it was absoloutly fantastic! BBC1's ratings after 8pm have to make it one of their worst night's ever - absoloutly awful, but at least that's the last Castaway at 9pm.

Play It Again looks like it is hitting Castaway levels!

Persuasion got rave reviews last night. Some people were comparing it more to BBC2 output though, so I suppose 26% share is as good as it can be expected to get.

All hours shares for Saturday 31 March 2007: BBC1 – 24.5%, ITV1 – 15%, C4 – 6.6%, BBC2 – 6.6%, Five – 5.8%, multichannel – 41.4%.

All hours shares for Sunday 01 April 2007: ITV1 – 18.5%, BBC1 – 15.5%, C4 – 9.4%, BBC2 – 9.2%, Five – 4.6%, multichannel – 42.7%.

Is this BBC1 lowest all hours share for one day this year??

They also had 15.5% last Sunday - but i don't think they've had any lower this year. And ITV1 had 15% on Saturday - that must be their lowest so far this year.

Without any big sport the weekend all hour share figures are always going to be low. Still if the only alternative is to pay £4m an hour for a football or rugby match, is it worth it?

11.8 million (50.2%) for Tracy Barlow's trial verdict @ 8.30pm for ITV1's Coronation Steet last night.

Doesn't look like the final part of Mobile benefited though, slipped to 4.7m/22.2%, down 0.3m from part two.

11.8 is good but a few years ago it would have been about 15 Mill!

Yes but 15M would still only have given them a 50% share a few years ago. Less people are watching TV now. Blame the internet

Everyone is too busy talking about TV on here rather than actually watching it!

Nah, only a couple of years ago during a big storyline, corrie would get 60% as would EE. Whereas a normal episode would be about 50% now this is about 40% for EE and 44% for corrie

It must be pretty near to the lowest share?

BBC1 really isn't helped by the ratings disaster that is Castaway (and no EE to bolster the share either....)
