Anyone interested in TV viewing figures should look at slides 27 to 39 (28/197 to 40/197) of the OFCOM report below.

Do have a look - it's very interesting:

Very interesting stuff. On a semi related matter, AGB Nielsen have admitted they miscalculated ratings for some channels in the Dublin area in Ireland. It is leading to a lot of hassle, with one channel even thinking of sueing for lost revenue. The error related to an underweighting of the multichannel sample.

Looks like Nielsens will struggle to keep the contract

ITV must surely recommission Foyles War now - how many other ITV dramas pull in over 7 million?

Come Dine With Me's ratings on a Sunday on More4 are pretty extraordinary, although I must admit it makes great Sunday late afternoon viewing.

Yes, they should. But isn't next week the last ever episode set in VE Day in May 1945. So, how would they bring it back?

Even though the War ended, the chaos in Britain continued well past VE Day. You could do stories about demobbed soldiers returning for example.

The head of drama said there is a lot of scope for storylines set post-war.

Someone even suggested they could simply change the name to Foyle's Peace.

^^ Thanks for clearing that up. I hope they bring it back; it's a very good drama imo and does well in the ratings. Why ITV dropped it, I don't know!

Wasn't Foyle's War axed by Simon Shaps as since he will leaving to be replaced by Peter Fincham. I bet that there will be a U Turn and more episodes will be commissioned.

As for a new title for FW how about simply Foyle?

I haven't got round to watching My Family yet, so how awful for GeorgeS that he's watched it and I haven't!

(I assume he must have watched in order to pass the comment above.... )

Still, 10.2m ain't bad and it will do even better next week against ITV's pale copy-cat version.

I love the way the pro-ITV mob clutch at the "first showing in Wales" argument to explain it beating ITV1's latest cheap clipfest slow - the total viewers from Wales for a show that pulled 4.3m nationwide would be what exactly, about 300k tops?

Hm, ITV don't do good spin-off titles.

Yes I'm still traumatised as a result.

Its not 10.2m. Dont you understand basic maths? It wasn't shown in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland on Friday night at 9pm. They were watching regional programming at that time! So the true audience for My Family is the England audience on Friday at 9pm, plus the Sunday at 7pm audience. The national overnight Friday night figure includes about 1m people who were watching other programming.

And your seeming ability to predict the future means you should be able to win this weeks ratings prediction game quite easily!

Conveniently forgetting Scotland (population of 5m) & Northern Ireland (population of 1.5m) plus Wales (population of 3m). So at a rough guess 16% of the population couldnt watch on Friday night. On a pro rata basis that would explain about 0.7m of the Sunday audience.

The rest as you say is due to weak competition. But as you saw with Casualty 1907 , BBC ratings can drop dramatically when ITV put heavyweight competition against the BBC's seemingly performing shows.

So as with Casualty 1907 , lets see what happens when ITV put something stronger up against the [England] repeat screening

Well 16% of 5.9m is 0.9m.

Friday 9pm - 5.0m
Sunday 7pm - 4.3m

Still means 9.3m people tuned into My Family.

Benidorm wasn't shown in Scotland, so 9% of 5.6m - 0.5m is 5.1m.

You can blame rubbish competition all you want - we could say thats the reason why people tune into any show. The truth is that over 9m decided to watch it.

The Fixer ended its series with only 3.3m (13%) last night. Do people think ITV will recommision this?

Based on this rating, Waking the Dead must have done very well.

Hopefully ITV should see it was up against slaughterous competition last night... that overall it did quite well and got good reviews.

I think it's a great show and deserves another series. I'm sure it will get another series as Michael Grade has constantly reminded us "not to be obsessed with the overnights", and based on quality, it needs another series with perhaps a more 'fixing' storyline and more PR.

If Benidorm is anything to go by, the truth of the pudding is in the eating. And Benidorm stayed for pudding, and I bet its double glad that it did, with over 7.5 million tuning in for the second series premiere officially. That's well over the last episode of the first series.

I think, for dramas like The Fixer, there should be 'pilots'. The first episode brought in over 6 million viewers. That should have been the pilot, and another 6 episodes should have followed.

Judging by the positive ratings on C4 at 9pm, I think ratings, apart from BBC1, were very spread between BBC2, ITV, Channel 4 and Five

The Fixer Series Average - 4.5 Million (19.4%)

Still much better than Rock Rivals, Moving Wallpaper, Echo Beach and 5 of the episodes averaged over 4 Million. I think we could see a reprise.

Although 700k down on last week and almost 3 Million down on the series opener.

That's not bad for the Fixer. The quality of the show was good. Hopefully ITV will bring it back.

Not as high as I expected for Waking the Dead. Half Man Half Tree did well.

Is this the first time Waking the Dead has been shown on Mon/Tue instead of Sun/Mon? I've only started watching it since the last series and I remember it doing well in the Sun/Mon slot.

Also is this the latest in the year it's been shown?

Interesting to see if Waking the Dead loses anyone to CSI tonight or vice versa
