Clever scheduling RobbieSykes! I hadn't thought of that, but that would be the best way of getting out of it - and screwing up ITV1's 9pm slot too with HC/HB overlapping! Very clever!

HolbyBlue actually looks better than you might think, it's co-produced by Kudos (Life on Mars, Hustle, Spooks) and written by Tony Jordan, the co-creator of Life on Mars and Spooks and one of EastEnders' best writers. The actual idea is awful though, but at least they seem to be making the most of it.

I'd agree with all your predictions too - except a little lower for Dame Edna perhaps, maybe 2.5m, and a little higher for the footie.

Generally 1 hour shows that start of the half hour dont do as well as those that start at the hour. Not sure why exactly other than viewers have an irrational dislike of it. It also looks very untidy in the schedule.

Your idea of excellent & mine are totally different I'm afraid. As a regular viewer of EE since episode 1 I lost interest a couple of years ago. Started to miss more & more episodes until I no longer watch it unless I'm in a hotel away from home with nothing else to do. Each time I hope it has improved but still totally lacking something. I just find it boring!!

Why have they moved Doctor Who to 6.35 when it usually has a fairly fixed 7pm slot

If it's a nice day again next Saturday that earlier slot could shave millions off it's audience

Well Saturday night's ratings were not bad at all for BBC ONE, proving you can still get big audiences even in this weather. Doctor Who rebounded and Any Dream Will Do continues to lead Grease is the Word.

According to a post on the previous page by ronant, 1.2m and a 9% share.

Very disappointing. People have no taste these days. (at least the people with BARB boxes anyway!)

Amazing rating for Doctor Who. Yesterday's weather didn't seem to hinder it at all. 8.0million is an excellent result! I was expecting around 6.5m.

Very impressive considering the weather - last year it had 8.3m (60%).
And what's happened to Gameshow Marathon? Last series it got over 9m one episode, and was regularly over 8m. That was after The X Factor and in the autumn, but still! Is Vernon Kay that bad??!

I wonder if Michael Grade has seen that? It is possible that it could become ITV's one race of the year.

Does that question need an answer? Its not that he is bad exactly, just that he doesnt have any particular star quality. ITV seem to have realised this and are shunting the rest of the series into the 6pm slot where it can burn off the rest of the series in a backwater slot.

Its amazing that Millionaire still has some life in it yet, despite its age.

Its definitely possible. The problem in the past was that Aintree is a 3 day card and ITV would have had problems showing full coverage on the Thursday & Friday due to Citv commitments.

ITV did bid last time but pulled out of the bidding before the end.

The BBC has the rights to Aintree & Royal Ascot until 2010 though so nothing will happen for a few years.

Dont give him ideas! I would of thought it would be difficult to do though considering they don't cover Racing at any other time of the year, and so don't have the commentators etc. Still i suppose most of the BBC's Racing team is freelance as they don't have a lot of Racing these days either.

Grand National coverage between 4 and 4.45:
4pm...4.61m
4.05...5.21m
4:10...6.08m
4:15...6.94m
4:20...7.60m
4:25...8.22m
4:30...8.27m

4:35...7.21m
4:40...6.27m
4:45...5.46m

Doctor Who:
7:30....6.45m
7:35....6.13m
7:40....7.29m
7:45....7.72m
7:50....7.83m
7:55....7.94m
8:00....8.12m
8:05....8.21m
8:10....8.26m
8:15....8.39m
8:20....8.43m

8:25....6.20m
8:30....5.86m

For RobbieSykes' prediction the Football peaked at the end of the match (7.15-7.30) with 6.9m (38.2%).

The BBC dont do much racing either any more. Most of it is on Channel 4 or At the Races these days. The BBC adopted a strategy a couple of years of only covering the big races [Aintree, Ascot, Goodwood] and dropping regular coverage of smaller meetings. That upset a lot of racing folks at the time, so there isnt a lot of love for the BBC among racing folks any more.

We will just have to hope he doesnt read DS. Michaels favourite fruit is quite obviously the Cherry and I would imagine we will see him attempting to pick a number of them in the next few years!

Amazing that DW is the only show that gets a majority of kids watching. All the other shows split the child audience.

Interesting also that the BBC News at 10.10 was in the top 10 programmes watched by children yesterday. And to think if the footie had overrun Dr. Who would have been postponed so "the kids could still watch it" ! It seems there's still plenty of them watching telly even at 10pm!

I understand the BBC's decision though, just think their reasoning was a bit silly.

Just proves there is no point making shows for kids when they would rather watch the adults stuff anyway. No CBBC or CITV stuff make it into the Top 10 Kids shows.
