9:00pm New Tricks - 7.2m

Why are people giving the soaps low ratings - Eastenders will definelty make the 8m mark , Corrie probably near nine and emmerdale 7m[/quote]

Well according to the ratings for eastenders the last couple of weeks, it's been around the 7.5m mark, whilst emmerdale 6.5m

Eastenders has been against the Football a lot recently so that's no suprise and the ratings are down generally too.

I guess so if it's been up against the footy. Ratings will still be quite low to usual though of course because of the warm weather, which will of course continue. At this rate eastenders could average 6m by July

Anyone got ratings for Dallas on UKTV Gold?

I was thinking this could be a big hit for them, but nothing on MediaGuardian or Broadcastnow about it.

Eastenders not too far behind Corrie and New Tricks Beats Emmerdale allthough in a later slot and New Tricks batters Taggart - and it was a new episode

New Tricks must be one of the BBC shows of the decade. Its seen off David Jason and Taggart on this latest run and always seems to do well.Obviously I am the one missing out as its one of those I have never watched.

New Tricks gained 1m viewers throughout the hour.
Taggart started strongly with 4.9 million viewers but had lost over 1m by 9:40pm,
3.5m saw the final 15 minutes.

Hopefully ITV will finally ditch this long-running Scottish crap!!! It is not even theirs anyway and I am sure they will delight in telling SMG to call it a day for the GVlaswegian drivel.

New Tricks is performing fantastically in the ratings and was only 400k viewers behind Eastenders last night! Its a good sign though, as it shows there is a big audience out there for drama with a big budget and strong cast and good writing.

Taggart is another example of the ITV drama department desperately running out of ideas, they need to find some new hit franchises quickly

All hours shares for Tuesday 1 May 2007:

C4 – 8.6%,
BBC2 – 8.1%,

The Champions League semi-final second leg between Liverpool and Chelsea brought a bumper audience to ITV1 last night with the game peaking at 10pm on 11.7 million viewers – half of all people watching TV at the time.
The coverage of entire match, which Liverpool eventually won 4-1 on penalties, which ran from 7.45pm to 10.20pm averaged a hefty 9.6 million (41.6%), enough to completely tower over the competition.

The game didn't dip below 10 million viewers after 9pm. In the final five minutes of the game –during the penalty shoot-out - ITV1's audience hit 11.8 million (52%).

Excluding audiences for the final itself, this was the most watched Champions League fixture since recent records began in 2001. It was also the highest rated live football match on TV so far this year.

The entire programme, starting at 7.30pm and including pre-match build-up, half-time analysis and post-match reaction, secured a substantial 8.9 million (39.3%).

United we stand

The previous Tuesday (24 April) ITV1 aired Manchester United's Champions League tie against AC Milan with the game from 7.45pm averaging 8.5 million (36%).

Last night's game helped propel the commercial broadcaster to a peaktime (6pm to 10.30pm) share of 36.9%, well ahead of its closest rival BBC1 which had to settle for 20.5%.

Between 7pm and 10.30pm, which ITV1 counts as peaktime, the commercial channel secured a share of 40.2%, the highest since June last year when the World Cup was on.

BBC1 put up a good fight by airing some of its biggest dramas but the audience figures didn't come close to matching ITV1.

It validates ITV's decision to buy the FA cup rights. When two British clubs are playing the Champions League ratings are always huge

Very true. And the final is likely to push towards 15 million, maybe more-especially if Man Utd get there.
The gauntlet has been thrown down by ITV-the next rights battle will be the Champions League. I wonder whether the BBC will make a serious bid, considering the known problems they have surrounding the sponsors of the league.

Probably. I read the BBC were considering making bids both for the Champoins League and the UEFA Cup. The BBC can afford both of these but it depends on whether they can justify spending the amount it will cost.
