Because it always gets the same audience figures every week & the journalists obviously get bored writing the same thing every week perhaps

Incredibly Heroes rating is falling in America, it's being beaten by Dancing With The Stars. The problem was that it was building up rating momentum and then it disappered for about 4 weeks, the same thing affected Lost in America as well.

I can't wait for Heroes to start on BBC2.

I hate it when they do that in America! When Ugly Betty started over here I was well ahead because I had downloaded loads of episodes and now the UK is only one episode away from the US because they had like a month between each episode!

From Broadcast now this morning...

No Ray of sunshine for ITV1
ITV1's terrestrial premiere of the Oscar-winning film Ray struggled in the key 9pm slot with just 2.7 million viewers (12.8%), fewer viewers than Channel 4, Five and BBC1 at the time.

The fact that it didn't finish until 12:30am on a weeknight must have made a lot of people not bother with it.

I am surprised at Virgin School, thinking it wouldn't be able to surpass the 2 million mark.

I'm watching it now on Sci-Fi but I hate all of the commercial breaks. Which is why I want to see it on BBC2. It's grabbed my attention the way Lost did in that first series. I love Hiro and Ando and I've always had a thing for Ali Larter since Final Destination. And how creepy is Sylar?

The problem with Ray was that it didnt finish until half past midnight. Also Ray Charles is probably a bit to classy for most of the ITV audience these days.

Virgin School did better than I expected also. It beat csi on five, bbc1 from 10:35 and was only 400,000 short of itv news... quite impressive.

I dunno what episode you are on on the Sci-Fi channel, but I'm watching Heroes at US Pace, and it gets absolutely brilliant. I only have to watch the season finale which is shown next week, and I can't wait for it. I also watch Lost, and I agree with you that Heroes grabs your attention like Lost.

Exactly...how many people can be bothered to watch a movie until 12:30?

I noticed that too. Recently, C4 Documentaries at 10pm would get less than 2 million, but it looks like its ratings are returning to its good ones earlier in the millenium.

I've just noticed - How To Good Naked is also increasing its viewing figures. I predicted it would get under 3 million, but it got higher.

It was a strange choice for a terrestrial movie. More of a Channel Four on a Sunday night feel to it

I was looking forward to this film so tuned in to watch it.
I was disappointed by it. I found it very, very boring, and ended up turning the channel over after about 45 minutes.
It was a film that just didn't engage me in any way at all.

I was disappointed by this film as I had heard so much about it winning Oscars and the like. But to me it felt pretty bland and uninteresting.

Does anyone know what Emmerdale got?

With regards to terrestrial premieres of big films, the impact they make is minimal compared to 20 or 30 years ago. There are so many ways to see films prior to transmission on ITV and BBC.James Bond premieres got over 20 million viewers in the seventies and eighties. These days certain films will still get high ratings-Pirates of the Carribean, Harry potter etc-and some films, such as Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, seem to get reasonable ratings over multiple showings. But these are the exception rather than the norm. I wonder if the price of obtaining these films has come down at all considering they are not all schedule winners?

They still do very well on digital channels. ITV 2 & 4 show films over & over and still get 500k watching each screening. Ok the premiers aren't as high but if you add in all the showings, the total viewership is probably still quite high.

I dont download 24... i've never seen it in my life, but i've heard it's great, and i might watch it from the start in the summer hols. I do download Lost and Heroes weekly, and usually Smallville, but not recently due to exams and stuff.

I think there's a big difference between the BBC and commercial channels too. Premieres seem to do well on the BBC, some incredibly well - like Pirates of the Caribbean. I think a lot of people don't bother watching films when there's adverts in the middle - when there's so many ways of watching them without. But i'm sure terrestrial premieres will continue to do very well on the BBC.
