Possibly so, but the credits would have run close to 8.30 so it probably wont have a huge impact. Actually ITV could have done better by running a few more minutes late. That way they would prevent people switching at 8.30 and 9.30

Why is Britain's Got Talent getting that many viewers surely it's only more bad reality from itv1

Its not a reality show. Its a talent contest/ variety show. Unless I've missed something where they are all locked in a house & filmed while performing their acts

Wow I was mistaken! It is disappointing that yet another Simon Cowell vehicle is winning - I still predict that it's audience will begin to diminsh. And by the time of The X Factor I think people are going to be sick fo Cowell over-exposure.

I have only seen a little of of BGT and can take or leave Ant Dec and Simon Cowell but its obvious that they are a consistantly big drawer for ITV-you dont pay a combined £60 million for nothing! Tonights audience will grow I think as its up against a Lenny Henry vehicle which I cannot see creating much enthusiasm.
Theres no doubt this format is here to stay-probably in expanded (possibly weekly) form next year. The BBC tried earlier this year to do a similar thing but it certainly wont be the show that people remember-people associate Cowell with this format! The Beeb should either buy SC(an ITV man if ever there was one) or try something different.
Its weird-the stars in the past were the people who went on stage and performed-nowadays the people who manage the stars are seemingly even more well known and popular.

I think BB can do some damage to C4.

I would have watched that cutting edge, but I have a black spot, in that I never look at C4 at 9pm, and I forgot to check their schedule.

I suppose 1.5m is average for that kind of documentary but I doubt I'm the only one giving the channel a wide berth in the evening.

As for BGT - It's doing really well which surprises me. I think Ant and Dec are great presenters ... (I won't comment on the rest of them - ... well I've not seen it anyway!)

Averaged 2m. Was down to 1.4m by the end. Not great really considering its huge lead-in.

We have not watched any of the previous X Factor style shows but Britain's Got Talent has surporised us and got us hooked as it appeals to all ages. (Old fuddy duddies speaking!)

It is a great mix of the amiability and fun of Ant and Dec, chearing on the acts from the side of the stage, the anticipation of whether those coming out on stage will be good, bad or attrocious and the occasional gem of an act that shocks even the grimaces of Simon Cowell. The reactions of the panel as they grow ever more tired after act after act has bored them is worth seeing in of itself.

The conjurer last night whose act went wrong (he fired a live duck out of a canon!) was hilarious TV just as the stunned silence from the audience was when a six year old sung pitch perfect.

Since from Friday we have live semi finals and then a live final on Sunday I can only see the ratings growing.

Given the last terrible Dalziel and Pasco episode the presence of that as opposition this Thursday/Friday will not be the draw it migbt have been.

The reviews have been 95% positive - believe it or not but people are actually enjoying the show.

Shocking ratings for Big Brother though.

I'm not surprised BGT is doing well, I've been watching it and its great entertainment. Very surprisingly for a show with Ant and Dec and Simon Cowell (who have many haters that will put down any show they are in) nearly every post is very positive.

Without a Corrie lead-in, it will probably drop tonight and I think the auditions will be the best part of the show so I don't see the live rounds doing so well. So far, it has been a major success for ITV .

I am just loving this show. Britain does indeed have talent!!! I cannot wait until the actual live rounds. The only negative thing I would say about the show is that we do not see all the good acts that go through. I am not surprised that this show is getting good ratings and I bet they go even higher by the end of the week. I have been raving about it to all my friends and family.

Channel 4 stupidly thought they could beat BGT and instead of ITV trying to destroy Big Brother, Channel 4 has tried to destroy BGT.

Big Brother is flopping hugely and really needs to move back to 10 or it could be in real trouble. I am expecting a huge failing for Big Brother on Wednesday.

Apprentice Final Vs. BGT Vs. Big Brother. I'm sure the Apprentice will be out on top then BGT and I'm expecting Big Brother to end up with less than 2 million

You will notice that the Sunday episode isn't on when there are Tuesday hour specials. You are still getting 6 episodes a week

^Usually, yes, i know but sometimes they do have a Sunday episode when they just want to be petty and decrease EE's ratings
