I've got to admit, I am finding this BB ratings fall hilarious! I am amazed this pointless show has lasted so long. The day is finally goes off the air for good will be a good day for fans of proper television.

I normally get hooked on big brother but this year i think its awful. Ive only seen about two episodes whereas ive watched BGT every night.
For tonight i predict the ratings were..
BGT - 7.1 million
BB - 2.3 million.

BB: 2.7 million

Incidentally, BGT will probably continue to fall until the final. Friday night ratings are awful everywhere just now, and it didn't do that well last Saturday night (compared to weeknights). Sunday will probably manage above 7 million again.”

I was going to agree with you about tomorrow night but just realised that ITV have got two episodes of Corrie tomorrow night (no episode on Sunday because of F1 and BGT final) - that should help BGT and that will certainly be to the detriment of BB as well which starts at 8.30pm. I think it will do quite well.

What about the cheap spoiler BBC1 ran back in February? The much ridiculed Graham Norton flop?

I was wondering how 'Let Me Entertain You' was doing on BBC2, looking at BARB it seems to be hovering at about 1.5m Not as good as Great British Menu, but I can't remember if this is better than the last series which was on at 4:30 and ran for 45mins. That was up against POG from 5pm.

I really like this show, they had an amazing 13 year old singer on the other day. Not so many wacky acts as last year - but the 30 min format works well. No phone in, No dodgy judges. A great host ! At least it makes a change from cookery and quiz shows.

Im glad BGT did so well again last night.
i reckon it'll get around 7,9 million tonight too.
bbs ratings should be higher tonight as its an eviction/new housemate night so i'd said 3.4 million for that.

I agree. Stupid decision to move BB around in the schedule all the time. Channel 4 should have kept it to its usual time.

From Broadcast:

O Brother, where art thou?
Jon Rogers
11:00am
Big Brother got an audience of just 2.3m (9.9%) viewers last night as the reality show continued to feel the heat from its competitors including ITV1's Britain's Got Talent which goes from strength-to-strength.

Channel 4's 60-minute reality show at 9pm once again struggled to make any sort of serious impact with viewers and could only hit a high of 2.5m (10.3%) at 9.30pm.

Big Brother, which is normally a ratings banker, has suffered recently as both ITV1 and BBC1 have aired strong competition.

In an attempt to scupper the Big Brother party BBC1 launched a new run of the detective series Dalziel and Pascoe which held a steady 5.2m (22.1%) over the hour-long slot. ITV1 though towered over all the competition as Britain's Got Talent achieved a new personal best.

Surprise ratings hit

The 90-minute live Got Talent semi-final, which has been something of a surprise hit for the broadcaster, hit a new high of 8.9m (40.1%) over 15-minutes from 10pm. The entire show managed to draw 7.8m (34.1%).

Over the 14 editions of Big Brother that have aired so far this series the Brighter Pictures produced show has secured an average share of 3.6m (17.1%) with most editions airing in a 60-minute 10pm slot.

Its audience, so far, is down by 800,000 viewers compared to the first 14 episodes of last year's series, although then the majority of shows aired in the more popular 9pm slot.

This year the reality show got off on the right foot with the launch show taking 6m (25.1%). But since then the show has, largely, been on a downward slope. Last Wednesday's edition (13 June) sunk to the show's fifth worst performance ever with just 2.1m (8.2%).

Both BBC1 and ITV1 have picked up on Big Brother's apparent vulnerability and taken steps to counter schedule against it. Wednesday's show faced the might of both Britain's Got Talent, which broke the 7m mark for the first time, and the final of The Apprentice which scored an impressive 6.8m (27.4%).

The Channel 4 show is likely to receive a boost tonight (15 June) with the first eviction of the current series. The eighth series has not been without controversy after contestant Emily Parr was kicked out after using racist language.

Spring into action

Elsewhere it was a largely uneventful evening. BBC2's Springwatch continued to bring in the viewers with a 60-minute programme taking 3.4m (15.7%).

C4's How Clean is Your House? at 8pm gained 2.5m (11.8%) with Embarrassing Illnesses at 8.30pm on 2.4m (10.7%). Five's Build a New Life in the Country gained 1.4m (6.5%).

All hours shares for Thursday 14 June 2007: BBC1 – 22.7%, ITV1 – 22.3%, C4 – 9.6%, BBC2 – 8%, Five – 5.2%, multichannel – 32.1%.

Peaktime (6pm to 10.30pm) shares: ITV1 – 26.6%, BBC1 – 25.2%, C4 – 9.1%, BBC2 – 8.8%, Five – 5.3%, multichannel – 25%.

Excellent ratings for BGT. IMO, the semi-final shows weren't as good as the auditions shows, but the show seems to have real momentum. Everyone is talking about it and that is showing in the ratings. The ratings for the final should be very impressive. An earlier post mentioned that BGT has a Corrie lead in tonight so it may well keep up the great ratings. BB is going to get trounced, its first show is up against Corrie and BGT and the second show faces the last half hour of BGT. What a ridiculous night to try and liven up the show - nobody will be watching anyway!

Yeah they have scheduled an extra Corrie at 8.30 with a strong story to keep in the viewers. BGT is fab so I hope it keeps doing well.

They are planning a stunt on Wednesday to tie in with the launch of Brothers & Sisters.

Its still only an hour long show so I don't think its a twist, it just means that both episodes of Brothers and Sisters get a BB run in. I think they did something similar for the F Word's launch last year.

4 men go in tonight.

Given that the show doesn't come close to 3 million at 9pm, I wonder if C4 will pull out of this and just put an hour long BB at 9pm, with Brothers and Sisters at 10pm, cancelling the double bill planned. 8pm is always a nightmare slot for BB, and if it goes out then, it will do really badly.

They do have something big planned as they do it nearly every year on a Wednesday - they did it with Desperate Housewives S1 finale and the launch of Lost - with both gaining big audiences. Plus B&S has been promoted like hell for about a month.

I suppose, they could probably fit the highlights into half an hour just now, theres so little to show. The rumour is that the new men will go into a secret house, so Wednesday could be the next part of that twist.
