Wow at BGT ratings, I thought it would pass 10 million, but not 11m! For a summer reality show, those ratings are incredible. Its good to hear that it isn't being rushed back, though. Ant and Dec said it would be next year before BGT 2.

How does that fit into the list of most watched programmes so far? I'd think there are only a few episodes of Corrie that beat it.

13.5m see Britain's Got Talent

ITV1's hugely popular variety show Britain's Got Talent romped home in the ratings race last night (Sunday 17 June) getting a peak audience of 13.5m (51.7%) at 9pm.

The initial 60-minute final at 8pm gained a staggering audience of 11m, equivalent to a share of 43.7%.

According to media analysts Attentional, the show, which over-ran by around five minutes, got its peak audience at bang on 9pm.

Later on in the evening (17 June) the results show, which saw opera singer Paul Potts named as the winner for his rendition of Nessun Dorma, averaged 10.6m (44.7%) with a peak of 11.2m (48.4%) in the final 15-minutes of the half hour show.

This past week looks like being a rare ocassion where ITV1's all hours share will exceed BBC1's.

When did that last happen does anyone know?

Quite high up I'd imagine. The Vicar of Dibley, and a couple of episodes of Coronation Street have only managed to get higher than that I believe.

Amazing ratings. That confirms that the show was simply the biggest hit of the year - and one that ITV has been waiting for for a very long time now.

I don't think any final has peaked that high. The last final peaked at around 12 million viewers.

Wow! Britain's Got Talent did amazingly well! I wasn't expecting the show to get as high ratings as 13 million. The summer nights have drawn in now, so this is a fantastic achievement for the show!

3. EastEnders 01/01/07 - 10.96m
4. Dancing on Ice 17/03/07 - 10.04m

No other show has got over the 10 million mark this year.

I assume those are officials. So BGT should easily settle in third place then. Just stunning for a show that premiered with little under 5 million viewers and within a week became the most popular show on TV.

ITV will miss BGT this week, it will be back to reality.

The question is, will Big Brother recover, or has lasting damage now been done ?

I think, without having checked it completely that this is the first time since November 2005 that ITV1 has beaten BBC1. That would have been when IACGMOOH was at the height of its pulling power. Still BBC1 will be back in the lead once Wimbeldon starts and then until Celebrity or the end of Neighbours, whichever happens sooner.

I think BB will recover to around 4m mark, roughly 1m or 20% off last years figures. I think we are starting to see the slow decline of BB.

That's amazing figures for BGT. Peaking at 13.5m (51.7%) at 9:00- fantastic!

It says on the report that "The initial 60-minute final at 8pm gained a staggering audience of 11m, equivalent to a share of 43.7%. ". But that does not include the average from 9:00-9:05 which got 13.5m when it overan by 5 mins. So could the official average be higher than 11m?

So its highest viewing figure was between 9 and 9:05? Its a shame it didnt start at 9 then as would probably have had even higher figures
Still amazing though, i just wonder how they are planning on doing it next year ie will it be on nightly again for 1-2 weeks?

It probably got its highest figures between 9 and 9:05 because it was when Paul Potts was singing, and many people might;ve herad of him on the radio or fomr friends, and might've just tuned in to watch him.

I think the reason it climbed so high is because it was broadcast over a week, so people get into quickly, it isn't drawn out. Spectacular - all this hype reminds me of the days of the original Pop Idol when the whole nation was captivated. It certainly goes to show that we arent tiring of these shows or formats. I hope TXF can do as well, at least beat last years 12 million.

I bet they haven't decided yet. There'll be pros and cons for doing it either way. The fact it was on nightly this year definitely helped it. I don't think it would have achieved those ratings had it been a weekly show.

ITV can definately take note from this as being a Summer starter for their schedule, making sure it gives other programmes like 'Talk to Me' a head start. I'm happy to see that David Jason is back on the network. More from him and a great variety will ensure that ITV will become the most loved/watched channel. At present, it's showing a lot more character than other channels with original production. Keep it up and axe some of the programmes we don't need, such as Tonight with Trevor McDonald and replace it with something fresh, like a re-vamp of World in Action. They need to stop neglecting current affairs and make it a strong point for the company.

Time ………. BBC1 ……………… ITV ………

Brilliant Figures for Britain's Got Talent again, with nearly 10m people watching the results! Casualty's ratings really got hit hard by BGT. Doctor Who improved its ratings from last week. Incidentally, when Doctor Who and BGT clashed between 7:45 and 8:00, Doctor Who came out on top. Doctor Who averaged 7.7m (37.2%) and BGT averaged 6.4m (30.8%). BGT averaged 9.4m (42.8%) after Doctor Who finished.”

Britain's got talent has indeed pulled in the ratings for ITV1 !
It's ratings have past the figures for Most of last series of the X Factor. A Good Night for Itv1 and also BBC1. Doctor Who's first of two parts - the final two episodes pulled in a high audience and it's new Drama starring James Nesbit and Michelle Ryan got a good figure let's hope next week it will rise.
