Correct, this is what happens as I confirmed in my post above
Regardless of what the terms and conditions say the process i have outlined above
IS the correct one. The process is also inline with the T&C's
I am not sure how I can make this easier to understand.
Disconnection
O2 Offline customer - You are required to write in to give 30 days notice. The disconnection is taken from the date stamp on the letter. Once the letter is received a pending disconnection is placed on the account.
O2 Online customers - You can disconnect over the phone, you are not required (at this point in time) to send a letter in to disconnect. 30 days notice is added from the time you call in.
PAC Code requests
O2 offline & online - You can request the pac code over the phone. The pac code is NOT issued the same day. Pac codes are passed to back office who will then issue a pac code which has a validity of 30 days.
Because by using a pac code to transfer your number to an alternative SP you are
NOT required to send in a disconnection letter.
IF the pac code is used before the end of the 12 months term, you are charged to the end of the term. If the pac is used after the 12 months term you will be charged for the amount of days the phone was connected for. O2 charge in monthly increments so you would receieve a final bill with a credit if for example you ported over half way through a billing month (if this was done outside the contractual period). Because you are either charged to the end of your term or for the amount of days used after your term then the 30 days rule is not enforced. You simply pay what you owe. Unlike when disconnecting when you would have to give a further 30 days notice even if you term ended 10 years ago.
If you request a pac code, and then never use it you WILL NOT be disconnected!
If you request a pac code and then use it you WILL be disconnected.
This should clear things up.
And once more just for those who are not sure, no letter should be sent in if you want a a pac code!!! By sending a letter in you create a pending disconnect. This is not required as the pac once used generates disconnection as soon as the other network takes the number.
