Want to leave HC, any thoughts??
Really want to leave HC. The novelty of C1, C2 etc has worn off now and to be honest I am not to bothered about the speed of internet.
I have been looking at Telewest 3 for £30 offer. That is 2mbps broadband phone and digital TV, for me the big difference is in the TV. Telewest offer PVR and the TV package includes the following; ABC1 attheraces BBC 1 BBC 2 BBC Four BBC News 24 BBC Parliament BBC Three Best Direct bid.tv lifestyle CBBC kids CBeebies Challenge? Channel 4 CITV CNN E4 E4 +1 e EuroNews Film4 Five Five Life Five US Ftn Gems.tv l Gems.tv2 Hallmark Channel ITV 1 ITV 2 ITV 3 ITV 4 LIVINGtv More4 Movies 24 price-drop.tv Quiz TV QVC Sky News Sky One Sky Sports News South Asia World Speed Auction TV Teachers TV The Community Channel The Hits The Music Factory UKTV Bright Ideas UKTV Gold UKTV History UKTV Style Now I think that is far more comprehensive than the HC line up??? Any thoughts? The only problem they charge £15 p/m for the privilige of having TV drive a PVR!!!! Amazingly at the moment if I could have a Sky dish I could get every single Sky channel for £41.50 p/m + free broadband!!! They are the best!!! Why cant they buy HC then life would be easier! I have recently been doing a fair bit of research into the alternatives including cable and TUTVA.
If you look at those channels most are on HC and where lacking (eg Sky One and Living) it makes up for with the Discovery Channel Suite. The list given are mainly FreeView channels (FTN etc) so you could get them all for free anyhow. For me when I looked around HC still came out on top so decided to stick with them - however I understand that this is my personal choice. I have had Telewest/NTL in the past and their VoD/Replay is no where near as good as HCs, I also use V:MX a lot too - which cable has nothing like. Last edited by dazbear : 04-01-2007 at 18:19. |

What about Virgin media?
For me Virgin have always been the most fantastic cust focused company I have ever had dealings with! I really am a beliver that Banson believes in cust's first; see; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virgin_Media Be interesting to see what they come up with in the way of packages and price plans! They could even if the price was right (as VIRGIN brand is so respected) really shake things up with sky??? Rumours are that the Virgin re-branding takes place Feb 2nd. So you wont have long to wait and see what changes are planned.
(however there are rumours that the Tiscali re-branding of HC takes place on 11th) |

just to add i wouldnt even tough sky broadband with a bargepole. as for the TV yeah i have sky tv and its probably 400 channels of which im lucky if i ever watch 10 of em, sometimes its quailty not quantity.
Then again i was never impressed with HC's TV service either. i guess it really depends what you watch, im not a fan of music channels of sports so its no big deal for me,as for movies anything i want to see i can download. you have to i guess look at what your needs are first when it comes to tv choice. for me when looking at packages i make a lot of phone calls and download alot of stuff so connection speed and a phone package are what count. for others its tv and having internet access thats important. look at what you really need first before you decide where to go, personally i see the new Tiscali packages starting 11th feb as being the best offer for me. £19.99 a month for 8 meg broadband, line rental and free 27/7 uk calls. |
