Connection Dilema
Hello All,
New to the forum, and have to say have found a lot of useful info already. We have just bought a 50" LG Plasma (model no. 50PC1D), a Sony DAV-DZ111 DVD Home Cinema System and SKY HD. We also bought a Monster Video 2 component video cable and interlink 250 audio cable. I know the Sky HD will connect to the plasma via HDMI, however I want the sound coming through the cinema system, I would just like to know if we have the right cables and also the correct way to connect them. I also have an Xbox 360 which I can connect to the plasma using the HD AV cable, but will that cable allow me to have the sound coming through the cinema system? I look forward to any help anyone can offer. Thanks Chris

OK, you should still use the HDMI cable to link the Sky HD to the LG otherwise you cannot send a HD signal - component is not HD. You can turn the TV down and connect Sky via an optical cable to the Sony - you need to confirm that the 111 has these inputs or you need to change it. there is no point in having your set up and not getting the HD picture and full 5.1 sound from the Movies.
According to the Comet web site the specs for this have NO digital inputs (optical or coaxial). If this is the case then you need to take this back. Sky HD (and +) carries full 6 channel (5.1) sound but only through its optical digital sound output. You need a corresponding input on your amp or you will be sorely disappointed. Rgds, Scorp |

i would get a standalone av receiver that has 2 or 3 hdmi inputs. then through one hdmi to telly everything routed through av receiver. plus you connect all your hi-fi through it
