There's a brilliant program called iGadget that will help you with this.

http://www.download.com/iGadget/3000...-10619225.html

There's the link, I only think you get on a trial basis but you should only need to use it once anyway. Essentially, when you connect your iPod to the the computer, iGadget will transfer your music from it, on to the computer. Then you just add the music to iTunes again.

Make sure you've set iTunes so that it doesn't automatically update your iPod otherwise your buggered. Once you've set it so you update it manually, you can connect your iPod and follow the instructions that iGadget gives you.

I hope that helps.

ITunes is a pain in the neck. If I had known the entire file transfer system would be so complex, I would have bought a normal mp3 player.

I really don't understand why people have such a problem with this, I've transferred my entire library from a PC to a Mac, duplicated it onto another Mac then transferred it to a further Mac and I've never had the slightest problem. Your basically connect the files together to get the fastest transfer you can then follow the instructions that Apple give you on their site.

I found a really easy way to do it.

1, load all of the tunes you have in Itunes onto your Ipod.
2, connect your Ipod to your new PC and wait for Itunes to recognise it.
3, come out of Itunes, go to my documents, and create a new folder to put you music into.
4, go into my computer, click on the Ipod folder, then copy all of the tunes into the new folder you have created, this can take a while, depending on how many there are.
5, disconnect your ipod.
6, go into Itunes- File- Import folder. Import the tunes you have just copied into Itunes.

Job done.

I've been using the option of BACK UPTO DISK in iTunes.

I've been backing my iTunes upto a couple of DVD's.

Does anybody know if this also copies the playlists etc?

Cheers, Mark.
