Does anyone know where it is cheapest to get a pronto, and also is the 1 MEG version ok or is it worth saving for the 2meg version..

The cheapest I have seen it is http://www.letsautomate.com for £173 inc VAT

If you know any cheaper places much appreciated?

Cheers

Sorry does it also need the optional charger, or is this a waste of money - how long do the batteries last?

cheers

I've a 1Mb Pronto, it has 9 or 10 devices it controls and still has about 60% free resources. This makes for about 22 panels so there is plenty of slack there.

If you use Duracell ultra AA cells, you will get about 6 months out of them with normal usage. I do now have the base with rechargeable battery and this lasts 2/3/4 weeks without charge and does seem OK. And the charger/pronto has some intelligence when charging so should not contribute to memory effect (I seem to remember it's nicad battery).

Buy one, see http://www.remotecentral.com for files and tips and never use the original remotes again!

can't help you there (on the price) but also you might want to look on remotecentral and download ProntoEdit and some CCFs - you can play with the editor and run the pronto emulator to see what things can look like.

£173 is not bad, they are selling in the stores here for 500 francs (Swiss) which makes it about 195 quid. I guess that is just the pronto, otherwise it is a bargain (if it comes with charger)!!
