Data Extraction
Nutty Timbo
07-01-2007
Hi.

I have scoured the internet high and low for a program to download files from the PVR80, but to no avail. There are a couple of programs for the Digifusion models (eg. Syphon, Fusion File System Reader), which seems to be pretty well understood, with details for HDD upgrades etc., but nothing for the Digihome. HDD upgrade details and photos of the Digihomes inards exsist, but nothing about extracting data from the drive.

Please, please could somebody help with details as to how to extract the data, or at least details as to the format used on the HDD, and how extraction might be approached using an IDE to USB adaptor. This would be very, very much appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi again.

In addition to the above, I have realised the small manual with the unit gives the main processor as the STM 5100 series.

Could anyone tell me anything about the above, or even better, tell me where on the net I might find an assembler etc. for it.

Many Thanks,

Tim.

Thank you very much indeed for the link. So it appears then that the STM 5100 Series chips are based on the ST20, as for the Digifusion. The same assembler/dissassembler might therefore work. This might also mean that a similar disk file system might have been used by Vestel. It should be worth trying the Syphon etc. data extraction tools to begin with!

Thanks so much for the info once again. Regards,

Tim.

Do no harm trying Syphon.

There are still a few hardware issues with this box that I'm not happy with - mainly heat-related, I think - so I'll be more inclined to be continually pulling it apart if/when I get a replacement.
