Humax Media Controller GUI

What's the differance between the Windows(Source) and Windows(Binary) installation options on the Humax Media Controller GUI web site. I have installed using the new windows installer, but this doesn't work. Should I try the other option or will it be a waste of time, or do I need to do both?

Woolfynorm. Sorry to pester.

Source code normally indicates the uncompiled code and is released by the author so that others may edit it and improve it or just see how the code is written.

The binary code is normally the compiled code (compile into a language that windows can understand and execute) and the 1 that you would install.

Oh and woolfynorm, never apologise for asking questions. If you dont ask how can you learn

Have you installed the necessary usb drivers from the other site?

I think so, I'm using the Alternate USB Humax driver, which I think is the "other" driver.

I did this by updating the driver in Control Panel, so I think it's OK, is there any way I can check?

Thanks,

I have viewed the instructions for transferring the Libary files for Media Controller GUI from the web site, via various hyper links and it seems very complicated. Has any one done this and can you offer some advice on how to achieve it?

Thanks,

Woolfynorm.

It is much simpler than it appears (I agree the instructions are confusing)

You need to download two files.

SetupHumaxGui V1.00.exe - from the gui location

And

HumaxMediaControllerV1.04.zip from the console based application page (This file contains the USB drivers, and you should follow the installation information in the releasenotes.txt file to install them)

Once the drivers are installed, you can install and run humax GUI.

I think I've done this, and am still having problems. Anyone got any ideas/suggestions, wrt to file transfer. I don't want to open up the machine to fit a hard drive directly!

Have you tried turning up the task priority in GUI options. I have to do this to get it to work. I have it up at max (critical I think it is called)

You may also need to try different usb ports - only one of the ones on my 2 port card works with the humax.

I realise this thread is a bit out of date, but if anyone is still listening, I am very confused. What are the web sites you are refering to? Google only found one reference to the Humax Media Controller, on http://www.enigma.eclipse.co.uk/huma...Controller.htm. I downloaded that (now at V1.05). I then found http://www.andrewdsmith.plus.com/hummy/ which apparently is the GUI installer that you refer to. However, this seems to use V1.02 of the controller. Tony Collinet's instructions seem good, but what does he mean by "the GUI location" and "the console based application page"? is he refering to the above sites, or somewhere else. And is this still the software of choice for communicating with the Humax? Any advice much appreciated.
