Customer Service - Where's It Gone?
I've had to get in touch with Homechoice quite a few times over the past couple of weeks as my set-top box has given up the ghost: broadband is fine but I'm now without TV.
I've noticed that the accents are now either Indian or Glaswegian. I'm not bothered by that, being Glaswegian myself, but it does suggest they've outsourced their call handling. Also, the queues to get through are now interminable: at least ten, but normally more like twenty, minutes. But what's more galling is that the service has now gone to pot: the agents to which I've spoken have been unknowledgeabe, rude and unhelpful. To top it, I was supposed to have an engineer coming out on Saturday to change the box. He didn't turn up and I didn't receive a call. When I phoned to find out what had happened, I was told that they had been called to Staples Corner as something had crashed. I arranged a visit between 7am and 9am this morning. When I phoned at quarter past eight I was told he was actually booked for between nine and eleven. Is this the famed Tiscali service we've heard so much about? |

yep it's in scotland now has been there for about 3 months
ready for the uk roll out next month for tiscali. and if you speak to the right person there you can get some info out of them for whats going on with homechoice and tiscali and not to mention the new set top box (tiscali's) and your right too alot of problems are happening at the moment with the so called new team up in scotland Last edited by tv watcher : 09-01-2007 at 20:20. |

Oh dear. No wonder they didn't have a clue what packages they offer when I rang up this morning.
Anyone know what is the maximum Internet-only speed they do? I'm sick of my so-called 4mb connection being knocked down to 300kb by the television stream. Freeview and PVR for me I think. |

So How Long Do We Have?
I had a similar experience with Customer Service. I am no nerd, but I knew more than the guy I spoke to about an email failure!
I am on 4 months free from December, but after that I guess I will leave as I am broadband only. I have Sky premium services, so I could get Sky for next to nothing, but I have been waiting to see how they go whilst they get over any teething problems. Does anyone have any ideas how long it will be before we are Tiscali? I mourn the loss of Homechoice. Very sad.

i only got two months free yesterday after speaking to them, but they did say that new packages launch next week and that new channels, PVR and HD launch within two months.
I won't hold my breath just yet... |

As I previously posted i too use only the broadband and phone with HC as i have sky and tbh dont think the tv service on HC is up to much.
HC used to do a broadband only package which i subscribed to but they dropped that and im now paying over the odds rate for the broadband becuase they bundle and unwanted tv service with it. Anyway after phoning hc about this it was confirmed that the Tiscali rebranding and packages will commence from february 11th, and that there will be a broadband only pack or broadband and phone as well as the full triple play service. Basically the same packages that Tiscali currently offer on there own website. ALso around april/may they will also introduce line rental as well ( again probably part of what hc already do) the only real difference is the pricing with 8 meg bb and phone being £21.99 a month as opposed to around £32.99 with hc and there tv service. This price is also again going to be reduced by Tiscali to £19.99 a month which will include line rental when its intorduced in april/may time bringing it in line with current offers and packages by sky, carphone warehouse etc, so for those users who dont want the tv service but just broadband or broadband and phone this has to be good. As for why i stay with HC if i dont use the tv service and only the bb and phone its through limited options. no ntl/telewest in my area and the only other BB/phone packages come from sky ( crap) bulldog( crap) and carphone warehouse ( more crap) , so its a case of better the devil you know for me. |

Was there a mention of exicting custs? i.e whether we would be upgraded to a PVR or if we would need to pay extra for that benefit? Also news on new channels? Like what are they going to be? How do we convert across?I assume Tiscali will write to us and put us on the most appropriate package to the one we are on? Anyone else spoken to anyone at cust services and confirm any of these details? |
