Why is it whenever someone is watching TV in Eastenders it is ALWAYS blooming Pigeon Street, this has been the case since about 1988 when Martin (as a toddler) was watching it on TV. Since then it has been shown on TV in Eastenders about 50 times, no joke. In the last month alone it has been shown on TVs about 3 times.

Any idea why this is ? I mean surely they could put any BBC shows they like on the screens, but always Pigeon Street ?

Well Deano was watching Knots Landing!

Now that is something that they should bring back, instead of Murder She Wrote

I thought Deano was also watching Pigeon Street ? Or was Knots Landing on todays episode as I haven't seen that yet ? He was certainly watching Pigeon Street in yesterdays. I bet if he was watching Knot's Landing it was probably audio only without a picture.

I guess I should rephrase what I said though, the majority of the time it is Pigeon Street, rather then all the time

He was watching both in different scenes - honestly Pigeon Street hasn't been on in about 15 years!

It also really riles me when characters are watching TV in a scene and then just turn it off rather than turn it down. Or they flick through channels and a array of naff sound effects and THEN turn it off!

I did find it funny when Deano was watching TV and there was really hi-pitched music and Kevin says "Whats this rubbish your watching"

edit: I think it was this music! http://www.knotslanding.net/soundvid...-93_opening.rm
can someone confirm that it was

I used to love Pigeon Street, so I don't really mind

It was kind of a cartoon version of Albert Square... in a way. I reckon it's a bit of an in-joke.

Brookside used to do this with a made up kids show. It would be mentioned in the dialogue quite often. Something like "That bear just turned his brother into a bridge". Just a running joke.

I think the producers of Eastenders were playing with us to see if anyone recognized Ray Brooks voice. (Paulines Husband) while he was narrating the programme.

He also narrated "Mr, Benn" back in the seventies too.

IMDB says Pigeon Street was narrated by actor George Layton. He perhaps best known for the Doctor movies ('at Large', 'in the House', etc) and 'It Ain't Half Hot Mum'. He's also done voiceovers for many TV commericals.

Here's the opening titles for Pigeon Street: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vSIizC7WkiU

I've never even heard of pigdeon street before now lol.

I think Sean was watching an old cowboy film just before Christmas at the Slaters, I could hear gunshots.

I remember Katie Rogers watching the Damon and Debbie spin off show once. The Magic Rabbits were actually quite funny when they showed what they were laughing at a couple of times.
