ipod help-apple logo constantly

Hi

my ipod mini has worked great for the last 15 months.

Last week was listening to it when it froze. Would not do anything at all and the apple logo appeared on the screen.

Since then it is dead. Will not charge, turn on etc.

When I attach it to a power supply the apple logo reappears but it's still unresponsive.

I've tried pressing the buttons to reset but still no joy. There is no sound/clicking from the hard drive.

Is there anything else I can try? Or is it dead RIP

Have you tried doing a software re-install from the iTunes interface?

It won't do anything either when plugged in to the mains or attached to the pc. The pc will not recognise it because it will not turn on.

All that happens is the apple logo shows on the screen.

Hmm that is difficult.

I can only suggest letting it's battery run down so that it switches itself off.

If that doesn't work, try http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/index.html for advice. If none of that works it may be worth a trip into a store.

Hi, this happened to us. Try re setting by putting the hold button on, then hold down menu and play/pause buttons together at the same time. Hold down for a few seconds and it springs back to life ....hopefully.

Thanks for the tip-it's still not resetting. The only thing is the apple logo turns off when I try to reset then comes back on.

I think it may be time for a new ipod!!

Have you tried fitting a new battery ? About £6 from ebay. Or is it charging anyway ?

It doesn't seem to charge either-when plugged in to the mains it's only the apple logo that comes on. It was working fine until it suddenly froze midway through a song-since then I have only had the apple logo

Sounds like it's buggered dude. If its still under warranty apple will replace it with a new one and send a courier out to collect it for you this week.

That is exactly what happened to ours. a reset and new battery did the trick.
