Is there any software that will allow you to watch your recorded programs from your Topfield pvr,in this case, satellite pvr.
The Topfield hard drive is connected to the pc(OS:Windows XP Pro),via a external hard drive case(usb).
It is only accessible via the TF-tool/DVR-Top A/ Video redo programs, for editing purposes,at the moment
As I don't want to mount the drive internally, any program that will recognise and allow access to the external Topfield hdd,for viewing, would be great
Thanks.

You need to copy the files onto the PC using Altair or TFTool, and then you can watch them using various programmes including VLC (www.videolan.org).

Thanks Nigel, for the information and link.
I was also trying to avoid copying all the files to the pc,as it wont be long before it will burst at the seams, from previously copied Topfield recordings.
Better get watching or become more ruthless, when it comes to deleting stuff.

Hi there TV. Are you wanting to watch the programmes that you have on your PC on the TV? Or are you wanting to watch programmes stored on the Toppy, on the PC?

Hi rhubarbe
I am wanting to watch the programmes stored on the Topfield hard drive,on the pc.
Despite having two designated hard drives for the Topfield(120gb/80gb).
I still find myself running out of recording space(some things never change,eh).

Thanks. I recently upgrade my HDD and it was taking an age to copy via USB. I'm now 'emptying' the rest of the old drive . Many thanks for letting me know about TFTool

There's also TopfHDRW,for the Topfield 5000,which in addition to file tranfers, does the following:

Quote:
“File transfers Toppy => PC, PC => Toppy, Toppy => Toppy
- Fixing a damaged file system
- Recovery of recordings which have been accidentally erased or have been lost due to a crash
- Editing of the EPG information inside of a REC file
- Defragmentation of a hard drive”

and for Mac users MacTF
