Just bought a clone of the digihome at my local asda
It is under the dual brand name its the 80gb pvr version and it looks a lot better than most of the other clones and here is the good bit its only £80 quid and has the 4.9 software version installed. You better start running to your local asda know.

thats expensive for a 80gb, look around and you can get a 160gb for about 115-125 pounds

Well I can buy a biggar hard drive at 35 quid the same 160gb disk thats used in the 160 model and use the other one for my PC
If anyone is interested it is the western digital WD160BB so its a matter of choice for the same cash
The one used in this model is the samsung sp0842n 80gb and its very quiet.

From the picture it looks exactly the same as the Digihome PVR80.

If it is then they are very good, we have 2 in our house and they have both been excellent so far. Extremely easy to set up too, all automatic and took less than 2 minutes.

Only had the Dual pvr 80 for a week to early to give a considered opinion but so far no problems except for minor picture stutter but only for a millisecond or so , so at this stage very good.

I have just purchased one as a present for my sister, but it only seems to be single record - unless I am doing something wrong. It is on version 4.9 of the software. I have only tried it very quickly, but if I start a recording and then try to start a further rceording, I get a message to the effect that I cannot as I am already recording, or something like that. - What am I doing wrong?

I bought a Humax for myself at Christmas, but I am impressed by the simplicity of use of this Asda machine compared to the Humax - I think that my wife would find it easier to use. However having been on holiday post christmas until very recently I have not had time to play with either very much.

The standard software is "watch one channel, record another".
This thread shows how to update the software manually for twin record.

If you can't find the files on the site stated, I've put them temporarily on my site here with some futher info here.

Thanks again John. The dual record software looks very impressive. Howevever, seems I wont be using it!
Bought the Asda Dual DPVR801 today for £80. Really like the box but found 2 problems so far:

1. Changing channels is rather slow. Previous box was much faster;
2. I live on top of a hill in Leeds where reception is good enough for an indoor set top arial, but is marginal for freeview. The PVR works fine until a recording starts. When the PVR switches to the second tuner for viewing the reception is much weaker with only BBC1 & 2 functioning. I suppose some kind of booster would fix the problem, but I will probably return the box to Asda within the 28 days.

Discovered the Digihome PVR160 is available from Maplins for £99.98 less a £7 voucher (for £100 purchase) if you register on their site & sign up for their Email newsletter. However, given the above problem I don't think I will be buying. What a shame!

As from tomorrow, the PVR80 will be my "spare" box.

I've ordered a Humax 9200t because, as much as I prefer the PVR80's user-interface, I suspect the hardware is on its performance limits. Give it a weakish signal and the processor seems to have trouble coping with the error-correction *and* decoding - especially if the HDD is in use as well.

I'll miss the EPG's 11-channels listing and the intuitive nature of virtually all of the software but, with the hardware on its limits, the software may have gone as far as it can go.

I purchased the "Dual" PVR from ASDA recently. I've found it to be an excellent machine. Even better now I've upgraded it to the dual-record firmware. I would easily recommend it over the Argos offering as it looks better and is cheaper.

One thing though, after deleting as many channels as I thought I could do without, the EPG is still slow to populate. Anyone got a definitive list of channels that definitely should NOT be deleted?

Maplins PVR160. The price was £99.98 yesterday but has changed to zero today!! Looks like they may be stopping selling it. Just noticed the status is Discontinued. The store check still shows £99.98 when selecting product. Two have been sold in my local area since yesterday with three still left in stock. You had better hurry.
Think i've sold my problem with the weak single. I took the PVR to a neighbour's house with a roof arial this morning and it worked perfectly. Now have a small coffee table behind the TV with a standard lamp on it and the arial precariously balanced on the top almost touching the ceiling.

John, I played with the 9200T in my local M&S and was very impressed by everything except the price of £199. How much are you paying?
Agree with what you say about the PVR80. It seems excellent value at £80 for the Dual and even better for the PVR160 at £100, apart from the weak tuner, slow processor and probably needs more memory. So excellent software but legacy hardware.

£173 from Martin Dawes. You can collect in a local store or pay £7 postage.

First impressions: Excellent picture and build quality. As I expected, the EPG isn't as good, in my opinion, and the user-interface isn't as intuitive as the PVR80's.
