Teletext seems to load fairly quickly, with only a few seconds between pages. It's not something I use so I can't really say if it has been affected.
I have deleted as many TV, radio, and teletext channels as I can and used Favourites lists. This has allowed me to get up to 4 days EPG. I've heard the more channels you delete the more EPG you get and the better it performs. The EPG can take a few seconds up to a minute to populate whenever you try to view it.
Now and next is the same story, sometimes it is not there, but only usually for a few seconds.

For me the added dual record feature far outweighs the issues with the EPG, which are really only a very minor inconvenience.

Just to add that I've deleted my channel list down to a total of 43, that's just TV and a few radio channels, no teletext.

I can't get the update to twin record working on Asda Dual PVR, I think I have the right cable as the box talks to my PC when it boots up.

The transfer fails when I restart the box to get it going with Last Error reported as Goto retry error and then a system message appears advising Trabsfer cancelled by remote system.

As far as I am aware this is a straight through 9 pin cable.

Sorted now, was a cable fault, new cable works fine.

Does anyone know if you can use the 2nd scart socket as a source ie. connect up a dvd player or satellite box and record to the hard drive?

Also, should this be possible, does it pass through RGB signals from the 2nd scart input?

With this box can you record one/two channels and view a previous recording at the same time?

Straight out of the box it can record one channel while you watch another or watch a previous recording.

With the right files (which people here can get for you) it can be changed into a box that will record 2 channels at once.

Unfortunately there is no way to record external sources to the hard drive.

Thx for the info. Probably will be getting one of these boxes this week.

Just another quickie I've thought of. If there is an OTA update for this box will it wipe out the update to change the box to a dual record? i.e. it would go back to record one, watch one box?

You can switch off the automatic update in the configuration menu.

Just bought one of these brilliant units for my mother who is a complete technophobe, and its simplicity itself to use, but Ive noticed a problem that seems only to occur on channel 4 - when subtitles are on (she is hard of hearing so are used constantly on all channels), when the adverts come on, about half the time there are three broad black bars accross the screen, blocking out most of whats on the tv - this sometimes clears up when the program comes back on, but not always - anyone experienced anything similar?

Next to your penultimate picture is written "Files can be tagged for archiving to DVD in one 'run' "

How are you thinking of transfering files from the hard drive to a DVD? Is it a case of using the 2nd "video" scart and sending it to a stand-alone DVDR?

I no longer use the Digihome as my main PVR but, yes, that's how I used to transfer to DVD.

so do you just tag the items yopu want & tell it to play ? does it output to both scarts at the same time?

sorry for the basic questions but i'm a little confused to the tagging effect!

As I say, I no longer use the Digihome but my understanding is that, once you've tagged a few recordings, you can start the first one playing (yes, out of both scarts) and it will play all the tagged files in sequence without stopping between each one.

So, you could set the DVD recording, start playing the first file in the tagged list and leave it to it overnight. There'd be no need to leave the TV (on the TV scart) switched on.

In effect,. you create a "Play List".

John.

Did you try asking the staff if they had any? Our local Asda had four Duals on the shelf when I bought mine but because the packaging is a lot bigger than the other Freeview STBs they'd put them in a different section.

Whoa there! Are you sure you want one of those? Check out this forum for other posts about them, the DABS ones in particular. I would steer clear, despite the price.

saw these in my local asda about three weeks ago and bought one on saturday (had to ask at till as there were no CS or ED staff about). fantastic piece of kit (far better out of the box than my 18 month old sagem ) and i like the idea of the dual record upgrade. anybody now if there is a similar trick for the sagem 6280 . does anybody have any experince using this box with HD ready displays and suround systems?

At my local Asda the Dual PVRs weren't displayed in what I considered the obvious place, which was with the other tv related stuff. Instead they were stacked up with some other special offers in an aisle generally used for seasonal goods such as gardening, halloween or Christmas items. The slight incongruity being that had it been a normal shopping trip I'd have seen them straight away, but as I went specifically to purchase one I nearly missed them.

I should add that £80 is a special offer price, the normal price allegedly being £95.

You can get the identical box from Argos, but it costs £99 and is branded Digihome PVR80, but it's EXACTLY the same apart from the label.

I've been using this for a week now and the change over from sky+ has been pretty smooth I'll admit it isn't as good as sky+ but for the price it is very good (when dual record is added). Get occasional picture breakups but not as many as I thought I would, aerial needs moving really.

Plus points

- Quiet
- Good picture quality
- PIP
- Much better than sky+ at doing the start and end of programmes (i.e. not starting late or cutting programmes off)
- Decent enough epg
- Plus 30sec jumping with the arrows

Neg points

- Can't see list of stuff I plan to record, have to look in guide. This is a major neg point for me but I will live with it
- Can't instant rewind on live tv.
- Can't see signal strength.

There are a lot of options I haven't fiddled about with in the library as well.
