I was going to start a new thread for the Evesham so that visitors could find it quickly, but there are quite a few more posts since I last looked, so I won't.

In case no-one's already confirmed it - the Evesham has 64mb DDR RAM.

Mine set up very quickly and displayed channels that my existing Digihome (twin-record upgraded) does not receive. However my reception problems persist, mysteriously different for the two boxes, am going to fiddle around with aerials later.

The Record button sometimes takes longer to respond on the Evesham than the Digihome, resulting in me pressing it twice and cancelling the operation. It's OK now that I've realised it's occasionally slow.

Otherwise, good pic, good interface same-ish as Digihome, will report back again with anything new.

Highly recommended. I ordered mine on Wednesday afternoon, free delivery option, it arrived this (Friday) afternoon. No comms from Evesham, though, apart from garbled order acknowledgment by email.

So far Accurate Recording since I bought the unit two weeks ago has been faultless on ITV channels as well as BBC. I have recorded about 50 programmes using it. I had not realised how pleasant it was going to be to be able to start playback exactly at the start of a programme. I've got an Asda T816 on Version 3.7 software.

I have not noticed any differences on programmes recorded on non-Accurate Recording (AR) enabled channels. I haven't investigated fully but I would have expected those programmes which start later than scheduled time not to record at all as the box would ignore the scheduled start time from the units clock but would not receive an AR signal either. However, it appears such programmes have recorded in accordance with the scheduled times. Have I misunderstood how it works?

There are plenty of threads on the T816 in the Digihome Sub-Forum.

I've recently started using my Asda Onn 160Gb T816 which is a breath of fresh air compared to my 3 Tevion/Technotrend PVRs (101, 801, 1620).

However I've come across a couple of problems I wanted to check out with members.

I've had some occurrences where the unit continues to record way beyond the scheduled finish time of a recording I had set from the epg. These were recordings that were set in the epg and not padded manually from timers list because I didn't want to lose the title info. It was almost as though the unit had received the "turn on" signal but had not got the "turn off" signal. I've had a couple of instances where a 30 minute set event programme erroneously ended up recording the programs that followed it - turning into a three hour recording.

I also had a situation tonight (Sunday night) when Top Gear was recording. I looked in the epg and several programs after TG were also underlined in red (selected) even though I hadn't selected them - only TG. Later when I went to check again (just as TG was ending) the incorrect underlining has gone but the recording stopped before the end of the program!!

Also, setting the epg for radio programs - I don't get the red underline in the epg like you do for TV programmes even though they appear in the set timers list.

Lastly, a really frustrating one. It won't let me set repeat recordings of an event type timer (i.e. where the recording keeps its title) - a message says I have to make it a time recording which then means I'll lose the title info - daft. So, if I want to record a program every week, I have to set it every week if I wish to retain the title. I have a number of programmes I record on a weekly basis and would really prefer their title to appear in a recordings list - not just a channel date and time description.

Can anyone else confirm these annoyances? Any way of getting round them?

Hi....

1) the 3 hour recording issue is down to the freeview playback I believe, so if the broadcaster doesn't transmit the info correctly, the recorder will continuously record for 3 hours as default. This only happened once for me, never happened since.

2) Can't comment as haven't used it to record of radio yet. Will have a look at mine to compare

3) If you change the event to time recording and then set to weekly, as long as you don't change the start and end time, the program details should stay. I've seen this once where an extra minute was added (maybe by myself!), and I lost the title. There's a new version of software available which has series link enabled so that will be interesting to compare how it handles recordings (think its on the new Sharp T816 clones)

update re item 2)...

not seen this before, but mine does it as well after further investigation. If you go up 2 channels in the EPG guide it's shown there, highlighting the wrong item! Although it will actually record the correct item as you say.

This is a bug and Vestel have been informed about it.

Please see below for more info....
