CPW - PAC request Hell
AARRGHH!
That feels better! I have just spent around 30 mins arguing with car phone warehouse about my PAC code. I am on Pay Monthly with them/O2 and wish to port across to a PAYG tariff. Apparently i cannot be given a PAC over the phone i have to write in to them and it takes 72 hrs for them to send it by SMS/letter. What is the law on this do they have a right to give you the number over the telephone. I cannot find anything in their T&C's. I even spoke with a Team Leader (fat lot of good he was) they seem to have all been brainwashed to give the same information. Can anyone advise me on this one. I have ported from Voda -> Orange -> O2 no probs but this is difficult. I might just cancel my DD and lose my number. Any help or advice would be great. Jase  |

Are you porting to another network or just transferring to O2 PAYG, because as far as I am aware you only need a PAC when changing networks

I did a PAC code and no they dont tell you it over the telephone. You have to wait to get it via SMS. I got mine withen the hour.

looks like they're making you write in to delay you getting the PAC code. That way, they have to wait for the letter, faff around with it, and then process it, and in that time you'll want to use your phone...

Its a bit strange that you would argue with someone on the phone for 30minutes when you admit you don't know the legal side or the policy.
As far as I know once you have requested the PAC, legally they have a period of days (depending on business/private contract) to supply you with it , or a date when you will receive it. In the case of a contract the provider has to check you have completed the contract, paid any amounts due etc. Normally you will receive the code very quickly. |

Exactly. I sent away my letter 1st class. I hadnt recieved anything for 5 days so I phoned up. The women seemed suprised when I said I didnt use recored delivery but I told her i didnt expect to have to pay £3 or whatever to disconnect from a service and if they were willing to pay for the deliverty, I would happily send it again.
They processed my letter 8days after I sent it. I love how the topic started goes on about how everybody was 'brainwashed' haha. Really, get over it, its called the procedure, it has to be done. I agree with prking with how daft it was to argue with them about it when you dont have a clue about it yourself. Anyway, thats what I did. Hope this helps, Mark |

Any company who says they need stuff sent via letter to terminate etc p1ss me off.
You can usually enter contracts verbally over the phone, all calls are recorded, and requests via letter at the end of a contract are nothing more than a delaying tactic. I mean, for security purposes, I presume they KNOW who you are on the phone based on security questions? |
