I agree -

Have nothing personal against Emma, but can't see what she could add to ITT - Claudia is perfect as the host/interviewer and her only weakness is lack of technical knowledge. Emma couldn't fill this gap, surely?????

I think you may be right. It seemed to me that Emma was chosen by the Beeb as the "face" of SCD last year. True, she was probably the most widely known/glamorous contestant, but she seemed to be heavily involved in the promotion of the show, and in turn the show (judges, ITTetc) seemed to heavily promote her. Never having watched SCD before Series 4, I wonder if any celeb has ever filled this role before?

Emma didn't seem to have great popularity with SCD viewers, so why would the BBC want to keep her on-board? She seems a nice enough person, but IMO she lacked charisma on the dancefloor, even if she did have a better level of technical competence than anyone else.

Ok as much as I dont really enjoy Emma, I think she would do better replacing Tess as one of the presenters ....

I didn't mean as a co-host. I meant as a roving reporter maybe going backstage at the studio - which if you remember, they had one of the celebs doing every week.

And just to really put the cat amongst the pigeons, I think Zoe would be perfect to replace useless Tess and if Brucie ever decides to retire, then Bill Turnbull would be the perfect replacement

Agree re Bill - am not a fan of Bruce, but think that the BBC thought they needed a 'big name' when the show was launched. Bill would be excellent!

I don't think Bill is loose enough to be able to present a show like SCD. You need someone like Bruce who can make things up on the spot and I think Bill would flap about too much if say another Micgate incident happened.

My parents (who ADORE Strictly) would prefer Terry Wogan!

Thats a strength for me. Its funny when she 'dances' (I use the term loosely) in the Len Masterclass.

Apparently he was brilliant at Karen's ball.

I think Bill would make an excellent SCD presenter, he is used to live TV, his humour and add libs would get him out of any tricky situations, being a past contestant he knows how to handle the judges and be sympathetic to the celebs

I attended Karen’s Ball and saw for myself, just how at home he was before a live audience, he was completely unflapable.

Bill would be great but I think Aled Jones would be perfect .Ex contestant , knows loads of people in all areas of entertainmnet , VERY sporty , Gooner , had trial for Man U ,.Played Tennis at a high level and knows lots of sports people .Very used to live TV and radio ,superb interviewing technique .
And Zoe would be excelent , seen her once on that soap thing this week .

I don't dislike Emma at all , but she does simper and whinge and I don't think she could carry a programme or even an interview .She danced extremely well , but she could not perform at all, every dance was bland and beless her , the paso was awful .
I have no idea why the GBP did not take to her , but they didn't. She was the most well known and equally Mark was the least known, make what you will of that .

A huge NO To Wogan and to Norton . Both would make it too jokey and it is already seen as camp , what would GN do for it ?

The british psyche will always plump for the underdog or least well known!!!

I think you've answered your own question there: you're right about Emma not 'performing', whereas Mark did most weeks, thereby conveying more of himself to the audience than Emma ever managed. It soon hardly mattered that Mark started out the show as a relative unknown. For the same reason I'd be concerned about Emma presenting anything on TV - she doesn't really project much personality.

I read somewhere that the Duchess of York is to be one of the contestants on DWTS in the USA!!

Anyway, To be honest having Emma more heavily involved in a presenting role on SCD/ITT would put me right off!!
It seems to me that Vernon Kay is being "primed" by the BBC to take over from Brucie!

I'd love to see Bill do it or better still Bill & Karen !!!!!

However, I also think Anton would be great!! and I think Brendan would be great too - the only down side, would be that we would not see them dance! - My favourite part of SCD is the Pros demonstration dances, don't get me wrong I DO enjoy the Pro/Am part of SCD - but pros are just brilliant.

Anyway, at the end of the day the Beeb will do what they want to do!

The next series of DWTS will have a week 1, non elimination week. I hope it's something they'll do for the next series of SCD. Although hoping there will be less than 14 couples otherwise it will take an eternity to get to the final.

I agree. And it would be nice to have a non-elimination week the first week so that we get a chance to get to know the celebs and any new professionals before they get knocked out.

Also even if a couple is first out they've at least had a go at both ballroom and latin. The weeks of training beforehand seems less wasted.
