Don't know if theres any fans of Queensryche on here but if so i was wondering if you'd heard Geoff Tate's solo album and what you thought of it?

I think it is excellent, growing on me as well - really expands his range and shows what an original vocalist he is - I particularly like "Helpless" but then again theres something about classical guitar in rock tracks that I like.

On a connected note - I recently got the DVD's of Operation Livecrime and Live Evolution - both worth checking out!

I haven't got the solo album, although I did hear a poor quality version of a track from it a while back and I wasn't blown away

Looking forward to the new band album tho

I hear that EMI are remastering the Queensryche catalogue. Personally I only really like Mindcrime/Live Mindcrime and Empire and i'll be buying these 2 again for the enhanced sound quality they so desperately need. Call me commercial but I really can't get into any of their other stuff although I respect them for being an immensely talented bunch of guys.
Would like to see the original Mindcrime VHS released on DVD over here sometime.

I thik couleddie means the original release of the album on VHS which was effectively videos of the songs, much more like a film. I've only seen it once and it was brilliant, unfortunately it was deleted before I could get a copy for myself.

On a related note I saw Queensryche on the Empire tour when they performed Mindcrime from start to finish - fantastic!

That's the one. It sort of put the sounds into pictures and from what I remember (as I haven't seen it for 13 years) it was superb. Hopefully it will get a release sometime. I think my brother still has the VHS knocking about somewhere.

Yes, my brother saw them on that tour and said it was outstanding.

Not so up actually... I just found out on another board he's not touring this summer due to previous commitments with the work he's been doing with his own company as a pilot. Word is he may catch up with the tour in the fall but he supposedly is not altogether into the idea of touring. I got a great seat for the LA show too and am so frieken bummed he won't be there.
