Does anyone know how the wild card thing works. I sort of remember something from last season, but I'm not sure. Do the judges pick the person, is there just one?

As far as I can make out and I'm sure Islandman and Jess will correct me if I've got it wrong, at the end of the 4 heats, the judges pick the best of the ones who didn't make it. They sing, America chooses one and the judges pick the last. It's a cheap way of making another show and voila-you've got your top ten. Though let's hope the standard's better!

hrmm that would explain why the contestants were so nice to the judges after the judges ripped them apart!! e.g. the guy Bettis just said thank you to them after they said he'd blown it. now im sure that if that happened in Britain the contestants would have said something back (e.g. Will did).

so if they're nice to them, then maybe the judges will pick them for the wildcard show. its all making sense now. and also, those who didnt get thru didnt seem to really care - none of them were upset about it - prob cos they've got another chance.
i bet Kimberley will get thru on the wildcard then.

If I were Chip and Clay, I'd be feeling pretty confident right now - the wildcard show has 7 women and only two men in it. At least one of them is bound to go through - the ladies will have a harder time differentiating themselves.
