I know they have a lot of adverts but my god..... how could the 30 minute show be dragged to an hour in the USA? I'd be bored stiff by the end!

And why do they keep putting random American Idol logos on screen all the time?

I thought the show was no where near as good as Pop Idol..... just don't like American TV

ITV are not ALLOWED to show so many adverts! The ITC rules state that the ad breaks in the UK shouldn't last longer than 3 minutes (4 minutes on non-terrestial channels). If a programme lasts 1 hour there should only be 3 ad breaks, EXCEPT for one programme a day, which is allowed 4 ad breaks, and you can be sure that will be the main ratings grabber of the day

In the US however, there are ad breaks about every 5 minutes or so! Whenever I am in America I find it really annoying at first but you soon get used to it. What I find REALLY annoying in America is the fact you can't watch the credits for any programmes...they show them in a tiny, unreadable box, while...you've guessed it...ads are showing

Aaaah! That would explain why we got 3 minute adbreaks last night, with about 3 trailers for ITV2 shows either side!
I can recite the Sixth Sense and There's Something About Mary trails word for word now!!!

I think we get random American Idol logos on the screen because that's where it probably says 'NEXT - (insert programme name here)'.

Also if you look at the quality of some of the astons onscreen, they are clearly put on here in the UK, probally to cover up US telephone numbers.

And yet the continuity announcer still kept saying 'Don't Phone'!
How can we phone? They cover up the numbers!

Heh. As much as I dislike commercials, I hate it when there are NONE. I love PBS programming, but they have no commercials! When am I supposed to go to the bathroom or get a drink?

I do agree about the credits, though. Frustrating.
