this has probably been mentioned in here b4 but,

i have a grundig dvd player with now region free, how can you tape a dvd film onto a standard vhs tape?

i know the quality isn't as good but would like to know how to do it anyway.

If the dvd is copy protected, the chances are you can't. I have heard that if you send the video out (not RGB) of the DVD player to a TV into one scart and pick up the video out on its other scart then you can sometimes make a reasonable tape. It isn't an exact science and depends on what you have. Another way might be to push the output of the DVD player into the decoder-in scart on an old analogue satellite receiver and tape off the rf out coming from the satellite receiver.

It can be done by purchasing a 'bugbuster' or video enhancer device which removes the macrovision signal that stops a video copying properly. I doubt that hooking it up via an analogue decoder would work as it would still likely pass through the same signal complete with the macrovision part. An old video like the very first VHS or Betamax will copy it ok, as a SVHS vide with time base correction circuitry should.
A video editing deck might also, if it's the sort that has digital processing and such like timebase correction facilities....
