Sandisk Sansa e280 - or something else?
Ugg

I'm looking for a new MP3 player, and after the usual googling have come up with this:

http://sandisk.com/Products/Item(2057)-SDMX4-8192-Sansa_e280_MP3_Player_8GB.aspx

The reason that I picked it, by the way, was:
o flash based (because it's going to get dropped)
o about as much memory as you get in flash players
o works as USB mass storage (it's going to be plugged into various PCs, not all of which support MTP)
o It'll only be playing ripped CDs so I'm not worried about pay-for-download support, and I'm not worried about video / photo support either.

The question is, is it any good? Has anyone got one but keeps wanting to throw it at the wall? Does anyone know of any better alternatives at a similar price?

I know that the European ones didn't used to have a radio, but they're just starting to appear. I'll probably get one of the old ones (as I'm not too fussed about the radio).

For £125 you cant go wrong. I was going to buy one but i cant even fill 1GB let alone 2/4/6/8GB

If you have LOADS of CDs you will need 8GB but if you only want to put say maybe 10-20 you will only need 2 or 4GB.

Hello Ugg,

Sansa 280e, kids bought me one for Christmas couple of silly ommisions but buy, buy, buy, frigan briliant MP3 player and idiot proof, simplicity itself to drag and drop files and there is no flaming i-pod in the title and don't bother with the radio model, reception not at all good.

Choice of accessories a little thin on the ground in the UK Amazon & E-bay USA better place to buy but don't buy the unit itself from the States.

It's a neat unit, the buttons maybe a tad small for some but I have large hands.

I don't know if its because its new but mine seems to run on a single charge forever.

Trust me Ugg buy one, I don't think you will regret it.
